Q: Are the jaws square and closing together precisely? Does the jaw rotation lock very firmly or is it hard to lock very tight?

The jaws are square and do close precisely together. The jaws surfaces are checked so if closed on a finished surface it will mark. I’ve never had a problem with the rotation not staying in place. The rotation lever tightens easily. I’ve never put extreme leverage on something when it’s rotated or hammered on it but it’s never slipped.

Q: This looks identical to Irwin model 4935505 is it? and does it also have a lifetime warranty? I have seen way way too many strong looking vices break?

Have only used it sparingly, seems to be very strong and durable, don’t remember if it has a lifetime warranty, and it’s not an Irwin

Q: I would be using it for blacksmithing. Will it withstand hammer blows to metal/items held in the vise? And will it withstand the heat of hot metal?

It can withstand hammer blows to metal/items held in the vise; It is better not to hold the extreme hot metal, becasue this could overheat the vise and alter the vise material properties.

Q: how long have you had this vice and has it held up to demanding tasks?

I’ve had for a couple of months now; honestly it seems to be holding up good. I was skeptical myself; I’ve beat on it, made brackets on it, seems to be really good for the money. The rotation feature is great!
