A beautiful memoir
Very beautiful, written with love and pain, about a world, a life lived and lost.

Loved the book
Loved the book. Would love to read it in Hindi though. Amazed at how progressive Shaukat's father was and despite the negative impression of communism, paints a nurturing and supportive environment. Followed this by watching the "Kaifi Aur Main" play read by Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar, which was very beautiful.

Some love stories are rare and they are beautiful
Some love stories are rare and they are beautiful. They happen to ordinary people with the usual ups and downs, and yet they last—forever and beyond. Imagine the love story of a writer-poet as accomplished as Kaifi Azmi and his beautiful actor-wife Shaukat. The love story was lyrical, tragic, soulful and beautiful!

it is a window to an age of dreams and struggle that still sustain us.
the memoir is very personal and yet it gives a vivid description--more a deep feel about the period. even the very personal incidents involving shaukat's parents or children represents an ideology and spirit. the love-story soars above the personal with a touch of the intimate.
