Sky DRX595 AMSTRAD DRX-595 HD STB (SKY HD) 1 Tuner

Purchased this box as our old box was very old and the picture was pixialting badly. the box worked great and the picture is great and stable most of the time except very heavy rain which is normal where we live.I was worried as it's an HD box and I only have a standard Sky card but everything worked fine, as a plus I now have the free HD channels BBC etc but it wouldn't bother me if they weren't there. I was told I would have to reinitialise my card on-line but I didn't have to it worked straight away.The only downer, and it's really because Sky expect everyone to be Sky plus, is that when I "book" a program I can't red it in the way I used to for an automatic turnover. So I have lost the possibility to record for a couple of hours and get two programs one after the other on two different channels. This is not the boxes fault it's the way the system works now as on newer boxes even those without Sky Plus the red button is for recording

I only watch the 'Freesat from Sky' channels and have just bought this box as a replacement. I agree with all the positive comments made. It is compact, smart-looking and does the job. However as time goes on you discover features that are regrettably absent, despite it being a budget box. As it has no recording facility I use it in conjunction with a DVD recorder via the Scart connections. Like possibly all Sky boxes, it goes into auto standby if not used for 2 hours between 11.00pm and 4.00am (I believe) so if I am recording a programme in the early hours it is tough luck - I will miss it unless I set the alarm clock for some ungodly hour and get up to switch the box on! There is a procedure to override this on more advanced boxes but not this one. If this niggling aspect does not bother you then go for it. I really don't have any other criticisms.

Very good quality! Great on-screen display/menu and TV guide. Regular software updates and signal very clear.The only drawback is that if you are looking for Freeview channels only you may have a problem as it mixes up free-to-view channels and Sky channels making it difficult to browse the TV guide. The management of the favorite channels is a little cumbersome.

This Sky box is really good. Its HD and comes with 1 years warranty.There is no recording features which was not required for me.Sky box looks stylish and its not noisy.

Very nice box...I bought a used version and it was in great condition...it's silent, it's cheap and works better then my old box

This is a minature sky box offering same quality as standard size box. will be suitable if you lack the space in your room. However I found out that for some reason I am not receiving local news (i.e in london) on BBC 1 and ITV 1 instead receive ITV 1 West even though I am living in london not sure why.

Bought this as a second-hand item but it's a vast improvement on the old basic Sky box we had. The item was as described by the seller and complete with remote and leads. We only use these boxes for Freesat from Sky these days, but we upgraded to an HD TV and this box provides a great HD picture. It's a great compact size and was easy to connect and set up. Be aware that it doesn't provide recording functionality. Very pleased with it and hoping we will have years of service from it.

Delivered as promised. I got the impression when I ordered the box that it did not come with a controller, so I ordered one at the same time as per the suggestion. I ended up with two so had to return the spare controller; not good practice to miss-lead!This product has failed and no interest was shown by the supplier to repair it.
