double sided
I love the fact this has 2 different sides so you can choose between cold or freezing cold. I find the warmer side more comfortable but can swap it over half way once the chill has gone off it slightly, to get a bit longer from it. That said it stays cold better than some, is good quality & it’s really comfortable. I also have another one of these but would buy this one again because of the dual side cold choice with this one. Definitely good value for money & a huge improvement from using an ice pack on your head or pack of frozen peas.

I love this thing!
This thing is a game-changer for me, and I love it!I initially got this because I get headaches and migraines a lot (and so does my partner), so we wanted something that would cover the whole head. We usually use those cooling patches, but they only cover a portion of the face and often you can't get them in the right spot, this fixes that! It's truly comfortable to put on and puts some pressure on your end, but it's pleasant and cool because of the gel pads installed on all sides. I've honestly found myself wearing this when I don't have a headache because it's just so comfortable and quite relaxing! You also probably wouldn't need to put it in the freezer, as it's cool enough at room temperature, and I imagine after a couple of hours in the freezer it would be overkill. It's also pretty great at blocking out light, and I've found that it genuinely helps!I honestly can't recommend this enough 5/5!

lovely cooling sensation, well made, easy to use, presses on eyes a little bit
PROS-blocks light-coolness lasts a relatively long time (we haven’t tried it warm).-gentle pressure all around head can be soothing-can sleep with it (it stays in place, plus it’s not too bulky)-dual-sided for slightly different feel (and to also prolong the cooling effect)-good stitching, nothing sticking out to irritate the skin.-feels heavy in the hand, but not while being worn.CONS-presses on the eyes a little bit-text in manual quite small (doesn’t help when you’re trying to read it for the first time while suffering from a headache!).NOTES-I purchased this for a relative who suffers from pretty brutal migraines, and so far it seems to have helped her (I’d be very happy if it can reduce the medication she’s been taking). I’m going to get another one for the normal headaches we sometimes have.MY STAR RATINGS:1* substandard, mostly cons2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros

Good Size But Sadly Doesn't Get Icy Cold Enough For My Migraines Even After Days In The Freezer
This is a hot/cold cap by Auvon designed in particular for those who get migraines or headaches. It comes boxed, with a clear resealable bag to keep the cap in. Don’t throw that away as that’s a good way to store it when freezing it or when not in use to keep it clean and hygienic.I’ve got a migraine cap quite similar to this already that I love. That one has velcro at the back, it’s like a silky neoprene-like material that’s cool to the touch even before freezing. I get chronic a-typical migraines that particularly affect one eye at a time and I can get them twice a day. I get through a lot of freezable eye masks and such but found my cap to be the best. I wanted a second for freeze and wear, because they don’t stay cold enough for long enough. When one goes back in the freezer, I wanted to be able to get another out. Unfortunately, this Auvon version isn’t quite what I’d hoped it would be.It’s a larger size, so it covers a bigger surface area of the head, eyes and cheeks. I’m pleased with that. It’s a soft material and pleasant enough on the skin, and it’s stretchy. There’s no velcro to fasten, so it stretches and contours to your head when you put it on, making it a little tighter and keeping the cold (or head) where it needs to be.There are two main reasons why I don’t like it. Firstly, the type of material used doesn’t let it get cold enough, and secondly, it has a rather off-putting smell. It’s not the same material that I thought it would be and I’ve unfortunately found that, even after a good few days in the freezer, it doesn’t have that burningly icy cold feel when you put it on. The cold does come through after a few seconds, but it’s not as cold as I’d like or as cold as the other cap I’ve got. When you’ve got a migraine, and when I’ve got this hideous pain in my eye and face, I want as icy as I can get and this doesn’t really cut it. This is more of a post-migraine cap for me that’s quite soothing, it’s not enough for when I’m having an attack, which happens once or twice seemingly every day.The other downside is the one I received has a weird and rather off-putting smell. It shouldn’t be a big deal, but some migraineurs get triggered by smells and when you’ve got a cap coming down next to your nose, you don’t want a yucky smell to make you feel worse or put you off using it.All in all, I wanted to love this cap as it’s nicely designed and a good size to cover more of the head and face. Unfortunately, the big issue for me is it just doesn’t get cold enough so it’s not good enough to use during my migraine attacks.

Comfortable, light and cold!
I absolutely love this cap. I recently bought a different one from Amazon that had big ‘pockets’ of gel like a food ice pack and it was uncomfortable and unwieldy. This is far superior; it’s so soft and comfortable, very light, it stays in place without any slipping and you can comfortably lie down with it on. As per the description the gel is 360 degrees around the cap (with small gaps on each side at about ear level to allow it to stretch). It stays cold for a reasonable period and by repeatedly turning it inside out and back when it gets a bit warm you can extend the ‘cold’ time by quite a bit, although the ‘outer’ side is a little bit more slippy when wearing it on the inside. It also completely blocks the light if you do pull it down over your eyes. I don’t find it particularly comfortable on my eyes if I do, but I suspect this is in part because I wear contact lenses and the cold can make them a bit stiff. It also comes packed in a robust plastic ziplock back that you can use to protect it when you put it in the freezer.I haven’t deliberately sniffed it as this wouldn’t be a fair test but I didn’t notice any chemical smell at all from it.I get regular migraines and have used topical cooling products for many years, this is a great alternative that does a better job.
