Excellent value, well built and does what it says on the tin!
I bought the Metz 15 MS-1 Digital Macroflash which was delivered from Camera King in super fast time. I have had the Sigma ring flash and although it is excellent I wanted a more portable unit to work with my Nikon D800 and Sigma 105mm f2.8 OS lens without the cumbersome cables etc. This unit does the job well and is reasonably simple to set up, just read the instructions. It has good light control and once the camera built in flash was switched to Commander Control in the camera menu it worked superbly. I also wanted more control to the flash left and right and top and bottom and with a combination of rotating the flash and adjusting the power either to the left or right, it allows great flexibility. The carrying case can be fitted to a belt of bag strap and it is not heavy and very portable. My only two gripes and I have deducted a star, is that Metz says it supplies the flash with only three adapter rings: 52, 55 and 58 mm, but this is not true. Mine came with the as stated sizes, but also 62, 67, 72mm adapter rings. This isn't a problem apart for the expense, but because I needed a 62mm and it stated that was not included, I ordered ahead of the flashgun delivery. Now I have two and the one I don't need cost me £14.86 which was an unnecessary extra cost as I will only need the 62mm! The only other gripe regarding the flash is the Infrared Clamp which fits over the camera built in flash when it's open. It's very flimsy and guess it will get lost. I recommend buying the Nikon SG-3IR panel which is part of the Nikon very expensive R1 close up kit. This available on Amazon UK for £10.30.Otherwise, I feel I've had terrific value for money as the Camera King price is greatly discounted from any other supplier. I would highly recommend this Metz flash and also Camera King as a supplier.

value for money
a fraction of the price of the canon one i almost bought. very happy with it. use it almost every day. a bit annoying that you go through a lot of batteries, but rather that than having to charge rechargeable batteries all the time!there is room for improvement however, in that sometimes i forget to switch it off, and it doesn't seem to have an auto off built in, so it is guaranteed to be depleted of power when i next use it. it wont last overnight if you forget to switch it off, even if you are not firing the light!

Macro only really
Think this will be a great flash for Macro.BUT i think its underpowered for portrait. i know thats not its main use, but on a decent power output, its a 3+ second recharge, so i can't use it for work.I know thats not really what its for, but i was hoping to use it for some fashion type stuff., but its not fast enough. plus with only 2xAAA batteries, it EATS them.In the end i got a Skyblue one for a quarter of the price. Does everything I want, faster, brighter and longer than this.Seems an unfair mark I know, but it is suggested you can light portraits, and you can, but its a very comprised function. For the Macro only user, its fine.

Very neat and useful short range twinflash for my E-M1 & E-M5 II
This is very useful twin flash in ringflash shape for macro photography with the Olympus E-M1 & E-M5 mk2. The m.zuiko 60mm f/2.8 macro lens is a real beauty so it's good to have a lightweight but effective lighting adjunct for those gloomier moments where tripod is not an option. Fully TTL and wireless set up, works perfectly.Recommended.

Easier than it looks
If you are thinking of buying this check its dimensions as it may be bigger than you think. That apart it works very well once you have set it up, it is a general purpose flash, useable on most systems - mine is running wirelessly on Olympus. There is a warning to use it on internally focussing lenses or use manual focussing, this is to prevent straining the motor on lenses with long extension like the Sigma 105. I focus this lens manually anyway so isn't a problem. The ability to vary lighting bias from one side or the other to provide modelling it also useful. One final tip for beginners start shooting on aperture priority at f16 as relying on the Programme setting will almost certainly overexpose.

Excellent twin flashgun.
Excellent twin flashgun. Worked immediately with my Olympus OMD em10 mark 2 camera and macro lens. Easy to set up and very adaptable for macro work from single to twin flash at various angles to light awkwardly positioned subjects. Highly recommended.

very good!
i bought this as a cheaper more convenient alternative to the nikon r1 system. after reading many reviews i decided to buy. i was not disappointed! easy to set up, one piece unit, not too big, uses two AAA cells, (unlike the r1 which needs assembly, is huge and uses oddball batteries). great quick release and, more importantly, performs well for close up and macro work. wireless mode is great. can be used with a pc cord too. recomended!

Great tool
Just received this and within 1/2 hour I was taking macro photos of spiders in the garden at 1/100th sec, F16 and ISO 100. Great pics with good depth of field and movement freezing. I couldn't have got these images without this flash. A very happy customer. Its also very well put together and came with adaptor rings for all of my lenses.
