An Absolute Masterpiece
I am seduced by this series. I bought the collection of all 9 films in october 2018 but I had been watching them for a long time before that on television. But these are better as they have not been edited down to fit the time slots. The name attracted me. Jesse Stone. And the colours the beautiful house and surroundings where Jesse lived. My favorite shots are those of Tom Selleck and the dog Reggie walking across the footbridge to the house. The series spans many years - 3 dogs - the first one old and dying and then in the next episode the main dog Reggie. He belonged to a murder victim and Jessie took him home with him. He lived a long life, died of old age and then in the last episode a new dog arrives. The colours and textures all seem to compliment the rich light chestnut colour of Reggie's coat. Jessie drinks neat whiskey and wears mostly beige and brown clothes. The stories are all very different from each other and there are also stories running through several episodes. So it is complex. The television scripts are developed from novels written by Robert. B. Parker who sadly died while one of the films was being made. A hugely talented and prolific writer. I consider this to be Tom Selleck's masterpiece as an actor. Yes Blue Bloods is a much longer series and he is excellent in that. But here there is much more depth. At times a lot of meaning without much being said. I have watched these films many times and even now when they come up on television dip in and enjoy just parts of the stories which I know so well. All 9 episodes are in my top 100 must have films. Oh and Viola Davis is there too acting perfectly. So life has been so grim during this awful pandemic - the television a very bad friend piling on more and doom and disaster. What to do? Go to the films which have given pleasure. And this has been just the right choice - the lovely music - the personalities yes some of the stories are very grim but we know they are fantasy. Still the same phrases 'the information is out there all you have to do is let it in' 'I'm very fond of you Jesse' 'Mr. Fish is in' The dogs - Boomer - Reggie - Steve. And a sense of calmness. Yes - still a great favorite still and always will be.

Region code could be clearer
This is a fantastic series. For those who like Jesse Stone and following his personal and professional tribulations. My complaint is that the DVD Region Code is never made clear in the product description. Amazon, please note. This appears to be Region 4 (Australia) on all discs. Luckily I have a multi-region player. So that this is not an issue for me. But for other UK users, they may only be able to play Region 2 discs. I notice that many DVDs sold on Amazon have this issue. As this is an 'old' technology, I would have hoped that Amazon had their processes, ie Region specifications for DVDs, sorted by now.

If you're into JS then this is a gem
We unintentionally found a Jessie Stone movie on one of the 'far-out' TV channels and liking Tom Selleck got hooked so I bought this 9 movie set. I have absolutely no complaints about either the quality of the dvd's nor the stories, which we are finding extremely enjoyable. I won't give a synopsis as a good job has been done on that by others however I would complain strongly about the haphazard way the movies have been clustered or thrown together with no thought being given to their chronological order, don't let this put you off buying them, you'll see what I mean when you get them and it can be easily rectified. I list here the chronological order of the stories with the dates of they were issued in brackets however I would strongly suggest you watch in chronological rather than issue order and ignore how they are paired on the dvd's which is pathetic:Jesse Stone: Night Passage (2006)Jesse Stone: Stone Cold (2005)Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise (2006)Jesse Stone: Sea Change (2007)Jesse Stone: Thin Ice (2009)Jesse Stone: No Remorse (2010)Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (2011)Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt (2012)I hope this helps, enjoy.

Had watched almost the complete series on TV and enjoyed the story-lines the settings and the high calibre acting
Had watched almost the complete series on TV and enjoyed the story-lines the settings and the high calibre acting. Getting a complete 9 disk Region 2 box-set at a very reasonable price - well under £40, was almost too good to be true. It turned out that the DVD case / box ( a 9 disk version ) was so badly damaged, I returned the item in the hope of an exchange. Sadly this wasn't possible and, in attempting to re-purchase the same item the following day, the price had substantially increased. If you can stand the increase, for the complete series, this is well worth it.

The best way to buy these movies
Arrived promptly and in perfect condition. I’ve noticed that some purchasers have had disc issues, but I’ve already checked and mine all play fine. Sound and picture quality aren’t exactly top notch, but better than that being currently broadcast on TV. A decent watch and definitely recommended for anybody who’s a Selleck fan or may have seen one of these movies on TV and liked it.
