Clear directions & lots of designs- easy to complex

My kids love this book (I have 5 of them ages 2-12). We have used this book for years. I love the fact that it uses 8.5 x 11 inch paper. If you use the folding guide it is not hard to fold the paper. It does help to have an adult fold the paper, but I have taught my older children to do it as well. We buy colored paper at Staples (best selection) and make them to hang up all over the house. we send this book to others every January as a family tradition to share. My kids love the fact that they can trace on the design that they want and they know that they will get a snowflake that looks as good as their cutting job...instead of cutting at random and wondering what they will get. My older kids are getting good enough to make their own additional patterns. I have used this book with kids clubs and Sunday school classes with great results. I reprint the patterns onto even heavier cardstock to help them be really stiff for tracing.

This book contains some nice, fairly conservative snowflake designs ranging from easy to very challenging. The first designs in the book would be appropriate for any age group, while the latter designs would want to be tackled by people with precision scissor skills who don't mind spending some time on getting all the curves right and cutting through the middle of the designs.The instructions for forming the paper shape that is followed by all designs is very easy to follow, and is simple to perform. I memorized it with ease after the first try, so I'm not sure what the other complaints are about for this section. There are 32 templates placed in card stock at the back. It does take several hours to cut them all out, and it would be nice if there was a flap to contain them instead of using a separate envelope that runs the risk of being lost.All in all, for the price, this book is great and won't disappoint!

Realistic snowflake patterns to cut from 8 1/2 x 11" paper. You just need scissors, pencil, and paper. I like the variety of patterns offered and found them easy to fold and cut. I also like that the cardstock patterns are reusable so long as you are careful with them. Fun!

Makes beautiful snowflakes

First of all, it took me two weeks to figure out how to do the folds - and then I had to enlist the help of my teen, who makes paper airplanes. The major problem is on Step 3, where the instruction photo is printed upside down from the actual pattern needed to place the paper on the fold. I guess it would be alright if you planned to cut out the pages of the book - but we intended to use the book as a pattern and then keep it, so it seems to me, the publisher could have found a way to print the pattern right side up. It might be ok for lots of people, but my brain just doesn't work as well now that I've gotten older, so please book publishers, start thinking of people like me, with older brains, when you print these books...also, I've copied better patterns from the internet, and they were free. The kids enjoy tying ribbons to the snowflakes they have cut and then hanging them from the ceiling - yet many of these snowflakes do not allow for it. In fact, I noticed almost everyone became bored with this book after just a few minutes. Some of the snowflakes that were cut just fell apart, but that may have had something to do with the size of the paper used. The directions are not easy to follow. I would much rather recommend "Snowflakes for All Seasons". Everyone enjoyed that book much more. In fact, we only actually ended up cutting three snowflakes from this book. No one has bothered to cut anymore so far. I hope they do or it's a real waste of money. I will pack it up for next xmas season and try bringing it back out and perhaps I can add a better rating then.

Very Pretty designs and it's nice that the book gives an introduction to how snowflakes form and the temperatures that result in particular arrangements. I made some beautiful snowflakes to decorate my place for Christmas and they are fairly easy to do. My only critiques are; 1: that it is a bit of a waste of paper showing all the designs in folded form/ finished form in smaller than actual size and then including all the cut outs at the back, why not just include the cut-out stencil near the edge of the paper showing its design and thereby save paper. 2: the pages at the back with the cut out stencils should be perforated so they are easy to tear out. I ruined a few of the stencils when trying to rip the card stock pages out of the back of the book, because they are too close to the binding and the pages aren't perforated.

表紙にあるようなデザインの雪の結晶が32種類紹介されています。よいデザインが多いです。基本の折り方は22cm x 28cm（本はインチで表記）の長方形の紙を使って折ります。英語はそれほど難しくなくもしわからなくても絵を見れば大体理解できる感じです。前半は1ページに大きく結晶がのっており好きな形を選んだら、後半の厚い紙に印刷された型紙を切り抜き、それを折った紙にあて線を引き切り出していきます。4段階のレベルに分かれているのでお子さんはEasy skill levelから始めるとよいでしょう。仕上がりサイズは約25cmです。星を一つ減らした理由は正方形の紙を使えないのがちょっと残念です。
