Excluders are used in areas where a live trap is not needed or wanted, or when a combination multicatch pack will be used. These excluders are as simple as finding where the animal has made his entrance hole in your house or shop, then attach as many of the four supporting wings around the entrance hole as you can with the opening of the spring door on the bottom preferably. The animals will exit by pushing through the spring set door when they want to find food or water, but when they come back to the hole the excluder will not let them reenter! The animal is actually standing on the door that they want to enter. Your next step is to fix the animal entrance hole with like surrounding materials and no one will ever know about the animal that used to be in there.

Installed on my house for squirrels (Does not work)
I wasn't sure how it was going to actually work. I have seen the squirrels leaving through the excluder. They also have been working hard at finding other entry ways to get back in. I have closed off every entry way that I have found so far. I had to re-brace the excluder to block a few new holes that they created in the wood around the excluder. It is now complete blocked off. The have been looking for new entry ways. They have given up around the excluder since I place a few composite wood pieces to help block their way back in. I blocked off my last hole today. There is only one other place that they might try to re-enter around my trim. Its where a outside line enter the house. But the extruder seems to be doing a great job. It the installer that is working through the problems right now.Update on my Excluder. I have had it up for a little while to make sure all entries were sealed off. I noticed a squirrel still in the chimney getting in and out. I finally found out how the squirrel was getting in as I have seen it enter through the excluder. I had originally gave the product 5 stars but seeing that it is now useless I have changed it to 1 star.

Easy to install and solved my rat problem
Great product! I tried to make my own, but the result was not satisfactory. This is a very well made device. Any broken welds were repaired, the angles were well formed, and all moving parts were free to do what they needed to do. We had at least one rat entering via a water pipe. I used a trail camera to capture the exit/entry times of the critter. After installing the excluder - no more rats. Unfortunately, the camera did not capture the excluding event, but my attic is quiet again. I'll replace the device with stout hardware cloth soon. Thanks!

Excellent product. Surprisingly well made
Excellent product. Surprisingly well made. The fact that the four mounting ears are hinged and can be folded back was a pleasant surprise and while in retrospect I guess cheaper than crimping or welding the hinge in a fixed 90 degree position, is actually a benefit in placement.Small animals, such as squirrels which I rescue, can easily leave and cannot re-enter due to the curved surface and the difficult in grabbing the one way trap door. This product could also be creatively used to allow animals selective access in and out. Imagine mounting two of them in opposite directions - near or far from each other. By placing a dowel or screwdriver across the tunnel to hold the gate up, one could also selectively defeat the one way feature and it could just be used as an easy way to create a tunnel from one space through a wall.

Good idea but my critters won't go through it
The product does what it claims, functionally. But, the critters near my house won't seem to go through it. They walk right up to the door but don't try to go through it. (Perhaps they see it as another wall - why would they recognize it as a door? Maybe if it were clear instead of wire they would be more willing to try moving it.)

Door won’t shut
Easy enough to install though they could include hardware to make it easier for this price. However the one way door doesn’t shut itself. So every time the squirrel comes out it sticks open so they can just go right back in.

The rat is out of my attic!
A rat was dwelling in my attic. It was entering through a crawlspace vent under my house. Took it a few days to go through the excluder contraption but once it did it could not get back through ( left it up for 2 week after it left) I heard it a few times tying to gnaw the mesh in other vents but no luck! I am a woman so i am glad I did not have to kill it or touch it. package arrived on time.
