Be wary of low quality imitations!
I have used genuine Gutermann thread for 20 years and would give it 5 stars every time. I was extremely disappointed at the unusually poor quality of one 1000m polyester "Gutermann" sew all thread. I strongly suspect it was a fake: my machine jams, the thread snapped a needle and bent another. I was obliged to remove the bobbin casing six times to extract tangled threads and take my machine apart to vacuum it clean. I have intermittently checked the 1000m reel suspected fake bought here to find that the thread is the only one which jams my machine. I should have got back to the seller sooner, but wasn't sure it was me doing something wrong. I have since used several other reels of Gutermann thread (sourced at a local shop) so can say with confidence that I bought a rogue poor quality one from an Amazon seller. I will continue to buy Gutermann and hope that this purchase was a "one off".

Not good!
I don’t know if this is genuine Gutermann thread or a knock off, but I have had a terrible experience with this. I have been using Gutermann for about 30 years, as long as I have been sewing, and 250 and 500 meters spools never disappoint. This large spool contains inferior quality thread. It keeps breaking on me, both while machine sewing and hand sewing. It is very poor value for money and it has ruined a couple of projects for me.

Printing on bobbin and bobbin type itself makes this very suspect - returned
I've been using Gutermann thread for many years, when this arrived I compared all the printing in the bobbin and the bobbin type itself (as there were lots of comments about this not be genuine Gutermann). Sure enough the printing of the word "Gutermann" is not correct and the bobbin itself bears no resemblance to all my other bobbins. So back to Amazon it goes at their expense. Amazon really need to make sure that products they are selling themselves and not 3rd party, are actually the real deal!

Disappointed
This item is faulty. I have started using the thread and under the first layer a number of ends have appeared. Unusual for Gutterman as I use it all the time. I will be careful not to order so far in advance in future.

Gutermann = Best Thread Available
I used Coats & Clark for ages, but found that it was breaking and leaving quite a lot of lint behind (which ia not great when using a cheap sewing machine, which I am, unfortunately). Switching to Gutermann has been an absolute game changer! It leaves significantly less lint, comes in a multitude of colours, and is easily the best thread available for most any project.

Smooth and good quality. Doesn't snap!
I am always known for going for the cheaper options but After moving to gutermann thread I wont go back. Runs through my machine lovely and doesn't snap on me ever. Smoother and so much better quality, recommend

Genuine thread
I always use Gutermann thread as my machine likes it! I get through approx. 1000 metres a week and have not been disappointed with this thread. Make sure it says 'made in Germany' on the label.

The best brand of polyester thread. Almost unbreakable.
After buying different types of thread thinking I can get cheaper, I’ve learnt my lesson! I tend to come back to this brand time and time again. The only time I go cheaper is when I sew with my overlocker. In a sewing machine you really need a thread that isn’t going to break and this doesn’t disappoint. My biggest frustration is having your thread break every few minutes and rethreading countless times. I recently used up a gutermann spool and just wanted to finish the project so used another brand of polyester thread which broke so many times it really made me promise myself only to buy this from now on.
