AMZNOVADurable Flat Cardboard Cat Scratcher, Colors Series, Wide, Baby Blue

My cat destroyed all the underneath of my sofa and as soon as i bought this she hasn’t once touched the sofa. She loves it! Every-time we come home she runs to it to scratch which I assume is just her expressing excitement. When i am about to feed her she runs to it to scratch before eating. She sleeps on it and its a really nice comfort for her. The only thing i didn’t understand was the cat nip because if you put catnip on it it just goes through the holes onto your floor so i used the catnip in one of her toys instead.We have had ours for about 4 months and its still standing, it is just cardboard though so they aren’t going to last forever but so happy its lasted this long as she scratches alot everyday

I worried a lot about whether my cat would use this - she never uses a pole scratch post. At home she scratches on some heavy-duty industrial carpet we have down to protect our floor from chair rollers. I didn't try without the catnip, just poured it all over the surface, to discover that it falls straight through the holes - a bit of a snag. Having cleared it up I put the scratcher down for her, sprinkled some more catnip over and left her to it. First of all she went nuts with the catnip (it's very good quality) and the after a few minutes she was scratching. She's such a fussy old cat (17) to see her actually use it was fantastic. And now - she can't leave it alone! When she's not scratching on it, she's lying next to it, rolling around on the floor where the catnip has fallen and rather obsessing. I'd imagine it's not going to last long as it's cardboard, but I only bought it to take on holiday with her as an insurance in case she's tempted to scratch furniture. For short-term requirements then, this is fab.

The media could not be loaded.  As you can see, Merlin took to it straight away. However he is a catnip junkie! This is the large one but Merlin is a very big cat, a gentle giant. Not sure how long it will last him, as takes a lot of battering daily. However, he does not scratch anywhere else.

Although reviews for the product are good I really wasn't expecting too much from something made of cardboard. In fairness I have three cats (none of which are small) so if they used it I didn't think it would have much of a life expectancy. On the positive side, they really love it (the catnip helped) so I can see that I'm going to have to replace it quite often. On that basis I wouldn't say it was great value for money but, on the other hand, at least they're not ripping up the carpets!

Bits started flying everywhere after two days use but I'm not sure how you could prevent that.

Used and abused... My cats like scratching it up and more so when I add catnip to it. Good value for me loved paly thing and will get more when this one is used up.
