Excellent high quality product.
Excellent high quality product. They are made of glass, but are thick enough to be reasonably robust. Neolab Anumbra E-2130 Petri Dishes, 40 mm x 12 mm (Pack of 5) I bought these to put food in for my neocaridina shrimps, and wanted something small that wouldn't be too obvious in my small aquarium. These dishes are absolutely perfect and come with covers (loose fitting lids) which are a couple of mm larger, thus giving me an option.I am also thinking that they would be perfect for sorting beads and sequins in for my beadwork. I would point out that the covers are not designed to fit tightly, so they are not suitable as sealed storage containers.Oh, and I could use them for decanting small quantities of ink for dipping pens or brushes in for my artwork.Hmmm, and what about for putting seeds into when harvesting flower, herb or veg seeds, to simplify picking out unwanted debris before storing in airtight containers.I am quite sure that if I sat here long enough, I could come up with 101 ways to use the Neolab Anumbra E-2130 Petri Dishes, 40mm diameter!!

Glass tolerances too tight - prone to sticking or breaking
I ordered a pack of 5 of these 40mm x 12mm plates. They arrived very well packaged, same as the larger plates from Neolab (which i have had no issue with). However, at only 40mm across, any variation in glass thickness or finish can be a big problem. The way these are packed is the same as the medium plates: with a sheet of brown paper separating the two parts. But in one case, the paper had totally jammed the glass together, and I could not separate them: I tried using suction caps, tugging on the paper from all ends (it tore), I tried heating the outer glass to expand it, I tried wicking water inside and heating it, I even tried microwaving it with water inside to try and 'pop' the two sections with air or steam pressure, nothing worked. Eventually the lid broke after all my efforts to separate them. The other plates are ok, but if I swap lids I can feel some of them are at risk of sticking a bit also; probably not as bad without the paper, though. I expect the remaining four plates will work OK.They really are surprisingly small, I had overestimated them. It will be tricky to pour agar in and use them for their traditional purpose (I had imagined using them to pick out isolated colonies and store them short-term), but it will be worth a try. However, at the risk of losing 20% of the ordered glassware I'll stick to Neoware's larger plates in future.

Check the size
I did not realize the size. They were very small but i should have checked that before. They still do the job for me and in the end the size was perfect for my needs

Waste of money
A complete waste of money as the tops are far to big for the base - they do not "seal" in anyway.
