Junk Beautiful: Room by Room Makeovers with Junkmarket Style Paperback – March 25, 2008

I am a keen rennovator with 25 years experience. As we are always working to a modest budget I enjoy the challenge of creating interesting and practical rooms using second hand materials. Usually with these books I see ideas that I've seen many times before but "junk Beautiful" impressed me with the wide and interesting use of their recycled materials. I have picked up many new ideas and lots of fresh inspiration from this book. Lots of photos of the smaller details used in each room are very useful, as well as instructions for some of the larger projects.Basic techniques are not covered however so a novice may want to use this book as an inspiration guide rather than as a "how to" manual. The writers use one of a kind scrap pieces for their room make-overs so this book is designed to show you how to view second hand items and junk in new uses of your own. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to trying out some of the ideas it has given me.

I really like the creativity that Sue and Ki have when coming up with uses for junk and design for rooms. They are an awesome team. I wish they would come to my house and use their magic on all my junk. This book seemed to have more "industrial" junk than what I usually see available. Old hospital gurneys seem to be a dime a dozen where these gals live. I have never seen one for sale anywhere, and I have shopped a lot. I hope they keep making books.

I love this book. It serves as a terrific idea book but it's pretty enough to be a coffee table book. At approximately 11 inches by 9.5 inches, it's a nice sized book for capturing pictures big enough to really see the ideas. And speaking of photography, it's fabulous! Love how the sidebars and callouts on the pages are also done in photo style complete with pieces of tape, paperclips, weathered paper, etc. As the owner of [...], I find this book to be a great resource for ideas and inspiration. Every time I thumb through it, I see something else I missed the first couple of times. Perfect for the trash to treasure decorator looking for ideas.

Having just recieved my copy of Junk Beautiful, I can tell you that I am completely amazed at the creativity and talent that went into this book. It is informative and inspiring, with directions for fabulous projects that make even the beginning do-it-yourself junker feel confident in their abilities. Top that off with beautiful photography, incredible details, and a witty, upbeat text and you have the makings of a best seller! I am motivated to try my hand at some of the projects already and will keep it close at hand for future reference and creative ideas. One of my faves of all times!

I really like this one. "Junk" that has a beauty of it's own, interspersed with other décor, giving the rooms a real, lived-in feel, not like some of the staged rooms seen in decorating books. I would feel good in any room of this book.

This book has good pictures and good ideas. The ideas are fun & creative and in general I like these Junk Beautiful/Junkmarket style series of books. There are many ideas that have been seen before, but there are a lot of new ideas as well. There is also a lot of good advice on where & how to find supplies. This book is written well and isn't dull or boring.

i love old things and love to redo what i buy for my home or to sell. the magzine tells and shows you what you can use them for and how to fix it. Amazon can help you fine everything that you need to know to how to fix it.
