Sturdy Shears Ideal For Food Preparation
I am always very wary when I need to cut, trim and prepare whole fish or poultry using a knife as it needs to be sharp especially if cutting through small bones and can easily slip. I have been using these heavy duty poultry shears/scissors for those kinds of tasks and find that they certainly cut very well while enabling me to keep my fingers well away from where I am cutting. These shears have a lock to keep them safely closed when they are not in use which can be easily released by the same hand which is operating them. The handles are sufficiently wide in the areas where the most hand pressure is applied making them comfortable to use when needing to cut through tougher items. They have a spring incorporated into their design so that they return to the open position ready for the next cut. I have not personally found them very effective for removing scales from fish so left the scales on. However they have worked really well for cutting chickens into quarters and removing the tails and fins from some freshly caught Bass. I find that they are also very effective for cutting a wide variety of vegetables and for trimming.Overall I consider these heavy duty kitchen scissors to be good value and easy to use. Recommended.

Excellent!
The media could not be loaded. Reviewing Heavy Duty Poultry ShearsI can confirm they're sharp and accurate enough to cut thin paper, but I don't think anyone wants to see a photo of that. Not having a convenient dead chicken to hand I looked about for something else to test them on. First the dog's duck fillet treats which cut up into shorter lengths easily, far better than our old scissors. Then I went for something more serious - a rawhide rolled chicken chew! No difficulty whatsoever. If these can handle that then a chicken carcass is going to be no challenge whatsoever.Built to last forever and highly recommended!

Sharp, easy to use, but feels cheap
From the product images, I was worried the seam along the handles would be a weak point. It doesn't feel that way in my hand. The blades are sharp, and the lock is easy to reach with one hand. They are decent scissors, but they aren't premium kitchen shears.Firstly, you can guess from the pictures, but tell by the balance, that they are not full tang. The metal is half at most half a centimetre into the handle. I expect that will cause them to fail if used regularly on bone. They also do not have a notch in one of the blades to rest the bone on, which most decent kitchen shears do to avoid slipping. The teeth for this only extend the length of the blade on the outer edge of the curved blade. They are only about 4 cm on the inside curve. This means that you're either using a side which is not wide enough, or one which is curved the opposite way to the fish. So the same effect either way, you'll need to go over the fish several times more than you would if the design was reversed. For cleaning, a cloth is provided, which is nice. But the blades are connected by an assembly which would require pliers to unfasten. So they can't be easily taken apart for cleaning, and I'm not actually sure they could be put back together. For some reason, a do not disturb door sign is included. I'll let you decide whether that adds value. For a pair of scissors, they're good. But for almost £20, I think you can get better.

These work well - tested on raw chicken
The media could not be loaded. I have just tried these out on a raw chicken.....and they are a step up in leverage and cutting power from my cheap supermarket poultry shears because they are bigger, sharper and flex less (so they seem to be made out of stiffer metal). They worked well - cutting the chicken without tearing the edges. They were strong enough to cut through the chicken joints - to make thighs, drungsicks, wings etc. They were comfortable in my hands - I'm right handed.Cleaning was easy - I scrubbed and soaked in hot detergent and rinsed and found no meat remnants left behind.Storing was safe - the lock on the shears works well to fix these closed to put away in a utensils drawer. The materials and manufacture look good - so I'm expecting these to be durable.I like these - and would be happy to get them again.
