Like others, I bought this trying to save a few bucks. That was a poor choice on my part. The first "issue" was that the device came only with a mini-disc, but no other documentation, and mini-disc format is... difficult to access. (Why mini-disc?!?! Didn't those things go out of style over a decade ago?) I was able to find some documentation on the web, but it only pointed me to software I couldn't find. I did finally find a way to read the mini-disc, but was disappointed at the uselessness of the content, especially the lack of meaningful documentation. There was one app on there for Android, so I loaded it to my phone and brought the reader to my car. Pairing, I'm happy to say, was easy. Unfortunately, the app was only able to read the error code, not reset it. That makes it fairly useless to me.All that to say that my attempt to save a few dollars ended up being a waste of money and time. I hope my comments will keep someone else from making this same mistake.

This device is great if you can get it to work. I had trouble trying to find the app that works with this and I found that an app called obd-II allows it to connect to your phone properly. Would be a five star if it would connect every single time and if they specify the app to use. See the pictures to see the app that I used

I thought I would try my luck on this cheep unit but the other reviews are right. This unit would not work, no matter what I tried. The adapter kept disconnecting apon connecting to the ECU on both my 2001 Toyota RAV4 and 2017 Chevy volt. I have not tried the software on the disk as I don't have a CD drive but I imagine that the issue will persist since it wouldn't work no matter what device I connected it to.

This OBD reader gets the job done without a lot of hassle. Plug it into the car's OBD port, pair it with one of the many available apps that connect to the OBD reader protocol, and you're on your way. Reads and clears codes and does all of the usual OBD functions. It can also read manufacturer-specific codes that an app may be able to decode. Small, inexpensive, functional. Recommended.

Very difficult to get to connect.Works when it wants too and can’t really figure out what’s wrong when it doesn’t connect. Have to keep unplugging it until it connects.

I have had several other OBDII devices so I know how to use and troubleshoot them and I could not get this to connect after an hour of trying with multiple IOS devices. I wish Amazon would allow Zero stars for items that just don't work at all, this would be a Zero if possible.
