Received and used immediately. Worked without having to install or put together or deal with batteries. Really liked the ease of use.

Context: I have raised beds in a southern desert state, so water and sun control are always an issue. I grow vegetables and herbs primarily, and knowing the moisture levels at varying depths in the beds is extremely helpful. I have no trouble getting lots of light, but in my neck of the woods, we control the light with shade cloth, so making sure my shade cloth isn't blocking too much light is also helpful. With the very frequent watering, keeping an eye on pH is essential as the levels change as we potentially water all the good stuff out each growing season with our heavy-mineralized water.The package comes with the 2-prong meter. It's simple - you just flip the 3-point switch and stick in the soil. The package comes with ideal data for various plants, but none of the plants are herbs or vegetables. Just houseplants.I tried this battery-free tool in my beds for all 3 advertised uses. The moisture meter is very good. It actually surprised me by finding a tiny bit of moisure in a bed I am not using and have not watered in over 6 months. I stuck it in there just to see it register "dry," but it registered moisture. I didn't believe it and dug in there and sure as shooting there was a little moisture down there. So, thumbs up for the moisture meter.I walked around the greenhouse in and out of sunshine pools and under a couple different levels of shade cloth. It registered all the changes in a way that I found to be reasonable. It gave me some insight into differing heights of my plants based on their location, so that was helpful. Thumbs up for light meter.The pH meter was a failure. Everywhere I put the meter, it pegs fully alkaline. The soil, my hose water, my RO water, white vinegar, fresh squeezed lime juice, everything. It never comes off 7 by more than a half point. Lime juice should be somewhere in the vacinity of a 3, even 2.5, but it pegs 7. Useless. I tried everything I had in the kitchen to show something more acidic, but nothing. I'm giving this 4 stars on the strength of the other 2 readings, but it's a 2-function meter, not 3. I was very disappointed. I'll be getting a different meter to do a better job.

I haven't used the meter outside as of yet. I'm sure it will help with the garden.For house plants it helps not to overwater.

Just don't leave it in the plants or the metal nodes will pit and break off. This one I purchased was to replace the original one I let get damaged.

What I like about this 3-in-1 moisture reader:-the prongs are sturdy enough that I can easily insert it 3 inches into fairly hard soil. I was unable to do this with my previous meter. In fact, that one finally broke when I pushed it too hard.-Although I purchased it mainly for the Moisture meter, it's interesting to have a PH and Sunlight meter as well.- I like that a moisture and light readings chart was included. It's not possible to include all plants on this little chart, but it gives some guidance- I like that it is a simple instrument with no batteries or charging required.- For the price, it is a great bargainThe only thing I do NOT like is that the lettering and numbers on the dial are so very tiny.I was planning on using it both for my houseplants and for my large Hydrangea, Tall Grass, and Shrub Garden. It is great for plants in a pot, but I really cannot use it for my garden. It's impossible to even tell if the Moisture reader is in the Red or Green area. I do wear strong eyeglasses, but I had no problem with my previous meter to read it when it was in the ground. Next one I purchase will have a larger , easier-to-read meter area.

This is a huge disappointment. The only time it registers as “ wet” is when I put it directly into water. Otherwise, no matter how wet the soil is it registers on the line between dry and moist. I took it out and pointed it at the sun and the light meter didn’t work either.
