Not what I was hoping for ...
This book was so simple and short, so not what I was hoping for . Disappointing.

Good book for young children
I used this book as part of unit on maps for my pre-kindergarten class. It was really nice to find a book so simple for this age group. The book is organized into 4 sections: Finding the Way (ie - What is a map), How Maps Work, Many Kinds of Maps, Globes. As I wrote my lesson plans, I found this organization to be a bit different from the way I would intuitively teach this material. I wish the book was organized from a very small scale - a house floor plan and then went to successively larger scale maps. This way I could show help the children understand how maps work and then explain the progression from street addresses to cities, states, countries and the earth. My other bit of feedback is that the book is a little on the small side for teaching the class. There is also a world map at the end of the book where the children are supposed to find the country where they live and the binding of the book is in the middle of the United States. All in all, I think it is a good book but could be really great with a few minor changes.
