The History of Malta: A Mediterranean Gem of History and Culture

Lots of great information

I wanted to know more about the history of Malta as my boyfriend's family are from there. This book gives you a good compact oversight of the general history, but at times can be repetitive. The structure feels like a student's essay on the topic, rather than a published book. Each chapter is 2 or so pages long, and a third of that space is taken up with an introduction paragraph at the beginning and conclusion paragraph at the end, repeating what you read in the middle. The chapters aren't long enough to warrant that kind of structure. I was able to sit down and read the book in one sitting. Despite this it is very varied and covers the history from Neolithic period, to the Romans, to the Knights Templar, to the British, Independence and the present day. I learnt a lot from the book but had been hoping for more detail than what was given. A good starting point if you know nothing about the history of Malta.
