⏳ Time to Adventure: Gear Up with Style!
The Armitron Adventure Men's AD/1009BLK is a versatile analog-digital chronograph watch designed for the active lifestyle. With a robust 50mm black fiberglass case, it features a multitude of functions including a countdown timer, dual time, and a 100-year calendar. Decent but with some shortcomings - Especially in the user interface
Note: Please see usage update at the end of the review for important information. One of the things I enjoy is a nice watch. You can find a number of my reviews of a variety of such. The current specimen is an everyday watch, very informal, action-adventure type for casual wear. Solid black with a grey trim ring around the outside of the watch, it is not gaudy or flashy. (But see further down for more info on something that might be a problem for some users as parts of the dial can reflect sun or light quite brightly and give your position away.)While quite large (close to two inches across the entire watch face) it is very light. The case is mostly fiberglass with a stainless steel backing.and a silicone rubber band with the usual belt type holes for a tang to go though and a silicone keeper. The entire watch and band weight a feathery 2.2 ounces. The watch hands and the hour dots are mildly luminous. After a few seconds exposure to a fairly bright light, they could be easily read once my eyes adapted a bit. The second hand is not luminous and, indeed is very hard to make out even in room light as it is dark and the background is so complicated with bits of black background mixed in with the LCD displays and the hour markers that the dilly thing might as well not exist. Bad design choice. The hour and minute hands are filled in with a white color and the second hand at least ought to have a white tip. (The outer edges of the hour and minute hand and hour markers are a silvery metal/plastic and reflect light a lot at some angles. This is NOT a good watch if stealth is in your plans for the day as these could very easily flash a betraying gleam of light.)The LCD displays are adequate if not outstanding. Two bars, the upper showing day and date (Date shows underneath the word "world time: which is needlessly confusing.) Bottom display shows time in hours, minutes and seconds and can show 12 or 24 hour time. These are the positive things. Now for the less good: While this watch has all the usual features: Alarm, countdown timer, stopwatch and so on, getting to them is mind-numbingly confusing. As many as five presses of one button just to get to some features. Thge user interface is wretched.Compounding this, the manual is the usual postage stamp size bit of paper that unfolds and unfolds like a magician's handkerchief just so they can wedge it into the underside of the plastic base of the little watch strand the watch is on. (Look carefully, you can easily overlook the manual; and you have to take the "stand" apart to get at it.)Half the "manual" is printed upside down relative to the other half quite needlessly. The printing and diagrams are clear enough and the English was written by someone who *does* speak English but it's too blasted complex to set anything..The EL back lighting on the digital parts is adequate but not great. I have a $13 Timex with much better and easier to read lighting. A $65 (as of time of this review) watch should be at least as good.I am not in a position to test the water resistance but will be updating this in a few days. I volunteer at an Aquarium and four hours or so of dunking it repeatedly into three feet or so of seawater in a very active manner will give me a good idea of how that is working out. So please watch for the update.Usage Update: It has nicely survived a long afternoon in and out of seawater up to an arm's length deep with no problems or malfunctions.Additional Update: Sfter only a few weeks use, the crystal is showing significant scratches and tiny "dings". I wear this when I volunteer at a local Aquarium and it does get banged around slightly on the rocks of our tide pool exhibits but not severely so the amount of scratches concerns me. I have an el cheapo Timex I''ve used for three years that is only slightly more dinged up on its crystal.I find this disturbing as it makes me concerned about the lifespan of the watch. I will provide further updates if warranted.Overall, it's a nice watch but it just doesn't tick the right boxes for me to be worth the money. It will look silly on a tiny wrist so keep that in mind as it is a large if not at all bulky watch.

Everything I need and nothing I don't.
Nice and sporty design without over-complicated functions. I was able to figure out the operation of this chronograph with a few presses of the buttons. I only needed the instructions to know if there were features I was missing. I like this a lot...having most of the features I need and none that I do not. The style is nice with a large (very large) face and easy-to-read hands. The hour indicators are phospho-luminescent and have a low glow in the dark. I would prefer a leather or cloth band as the rubber grips and pulls the hair on my arm, but that is a minor nit and easily corrected. Nice watch, very affordable, and all the functions I need (time, day/date, stopwatch, alarm, and timer). Winner.

Attractive and Light Weight.
I like this watch, the Armitron Adventure Men's, quite a bit. It is attractive and performs well. What I especially like, however, is how a watch of this size can be so comfortable to wear. I've been wearing it to work exclusively and barely notice it. The case is made of fiberglass and why it's so light. It is an analog/digital combination watch and comes equipped with a host of additives such as a timer, chimes, military time and others. Moreover, it has been keeping excellent time, too.

Wear It Anywhere
My teenage son wears this watch all the time--as in all the time: in the shower, pool, washing dishes, etc.--and he loves it. It is reliable, sturdy and has a multitude of features (multiple alarms, chronograph, pacer, calendar, countdown timer, various types of time keeping such as military time, world time, and many more). This is just a great, all-around athletic watch
