Sustainably great shampoo
Until I found this Ethique shampoo bar, I had never thought about all the industrial chemistry in regular shampoo. The chemistry is no good for your hair, while soaps contaminate surface water and threaten the existence of many wild animals. My old shampoo had 17 ingredients, mostly soaps and salts, with only 2 natural safe ingredients 9 (honeysuckle extract & aloe barbadensis leaf). The other 15 ingredients were industrial chemistry. In my experience, if you can't pronounce it, you shouldn't rub it onto your body. In contrast, this Ethique bar has 17 ingredients, none of which are environmentally destructive soaps & 7 are natural ingredients, including cocoa seed butter, coconut oil, lime oil, cinnamon bark extract, ginger root powder and epsom salt. It's also palm oil free, which helps to reduce giant palm tree plantations in developing countries to sell palm oil to Western companies instead of growing their own food sustainably. I use the Sweet & Spicy for fine hair and I love it. It smells great without being overpowering. One caution: it is a very soft shampoo bar. So you have to set it up to dry after showering or it will stay soft and tend to melt. And it cleans great. I wipe the bar across my wet hair 2-3 times then wipe the bar dry and it lathers up easily. And the bar lasts a good long time: I shampooed daily with it for 5 months (157 days, to be exact, sometimes shampooing twice a day in hot weather) until it was gone. So if you are looking for a great natural shampoo bar and love your Mother (Gaia, that is), this is the bar for you. Highly recommended.

This Stuff Rocks
Not that this doesn't have enough positive reviews already, but it's really pretty spectacular. 10/10 would recommend and will be repurchasing.Reasons why this is the best stuff ever:IT WORKS. Which....enough said right? I've got thin, frizzy/wavy hair. It's bleach damaged and dyed over on the bottom, but oily on the top. I usually wash every other or every third day. The stuff I was using before was something my hairdresser scared me into purchasing after she did what she could for my ends. It set me back 70$ for shampoo and conditioner, which was obscene, and I still needed multiple after-shower products to get my hair to act right. Before trying these bars I felt like those were just going to be the consequences of having damaged my ends so badly, but I decided I really wanted to try a different product because, yikes. I've used the San Clemente shampoo and the Guardian conditioner for the last 3-4 months. I'm not going to say I have a whole new head of hair or it's magically thicker or anything like that, but it does look shiny and healthy. It dries wavy/curly like it's supposed to and not in the tortured part straight/part frizz/part curly beast nonsense it was doing with the other products. I don't have to put two after-shower oils into it to be able to brush it. Bottom line, this stuff works well at a price I'm willing to pay. But it's got a bunch of other cool stuff going for it too:Additional Reasons Ethique is the Greatest:- It lasts FOREVER. For real. I'm well past the 3 month mark and maybe about halfway through? I thought the three bottle thing was a massive exaggeration, especially after seeing the size of these bars, but it's really holding true for me. I sit it on the ledge in front of the window in my bathroom in a little silicone soap tray I got from WalMart for like 3 bucks that lets the bottom dry out, and that’s enough to keep it from melting.- It's natural and biodegradable- you can collect your grey water and use it in the garden. You can go camping and not feel guilty about washing your hair (not in a water source, folks). Packaging is 100 percent compostable. It's palm oil free and they try to get their ingredients from companies who treat their employees reasonably and use resources sustainably. They’re great. -Literally, the only green issue I've got is that there's obviously a significant carbon footprint associated with shipping it to me, but if I only have to order it twice a year (or once, if I stockpile?) I feel like it probably evens out? I'm not losing much sleep over it.- Super transportable. I can throw this in my duffle bag for the weekend. I can take this on a carry-on no problem. It takes up almost no space and represents months worth of cleanliness. Which is freaking fantastic, because I'm a college student and we're kind of migratory by nature.- SLS Free! Silicone Free! PH Balanced! My hair is frizzy. It's chemically damaged on the ends. It's thin. And the dye on my ends is hiding a lot of sins. I cannot afford to be messing around with these other bar shampoos made out of soap that are all really alkaline. Dito for the whole baking soda method. Or the ones from LUSH masquerading as good things that are secretly out to destroy you and strip all color from your hair. Or the drugstore shampoos that promise silkiness only because they’re piling the plastics on.It’s a good shampoo full of good stuff that smells nice and is nice to your hair. Go for it. It won’t work miracles, but It does the job it’s supposed to do really well.

Bought for friend.. she loves it
I have thick, coarse, curly, dry hair. I need moisture, frizz and curl control as well as a detangler. Normally I have lots of hair in my shower after washing not to mention the tangles. I read all the reviews before trying this. Was disappointed that some said it didn't last or lather.I just wanted something to take on my vacation for two weeks. TSA has the liquid restrictions and I was going to have to check a bag just to take enough conditioner/hair products for two weeks. My problem has been solved. I now have a shampoo and conditioner [ as well as a leave in bar). I tried this to be certain of the results before packing. This has been a blessing. No more tangles, my curls now behave, my hair is soft and smells great but not over powering. I even used the blow dryer to speed up the drying process. I never did this before unless I would flat iron just because I would look like einstein before the flat iron... even with product! Now I have the hair I wanted. The shampoo lathers well. Just wet your hair and the bar and lather up!The conditioner works great. I usually use alot of conditioner just to get through my tangles. With this conditioner I just rub this bar over the front and back of my wet hair after shampooing. When done I rub a little in my palms to get a very thin/light coating then finger comb it through my hair. I have a dry scalp so I make certain tu use some on my scalp, shower then rinse.I use the leave in conditioner the same way, but do not rinse.I use moisturizer shampoo and alternate the next shampoo session with a frizz control bar.Just twice a week and my hIr already feels and looks great compared to what it was.I bought some for my friends who needed the volume control instead of the moisture and frizz. Each one loves it and saw good results. One of them has difficulties holding bottles and washing her hair, but she said the bar was much easier for her hands to use. This is my new product! No more expensive shampoos and no more recycling bottles. I feel I am using less product than the bottles, so this is a fraction of what I was paying! The other savings is a plus as wel.. it goes right inside my personal item.. no more worrying about checking a bag just to get 2 weeks supply of hair product!!

Fantastic
I’ve been an SLS free liquid shampoo gal for some time.. which took an age to find the right one that didn’t leave my hair lank. But I began getting a dry scalp through autoimmune disease and menopause not helping. Nothing worked ! A shop bought GEL shampoo helped for a while then my scalp reverted to being a flaky itchy mess again (not dandruff)My hair being naturally blonde with natural white highlights, fine with medium texture. Oily roots and dry ends. Challenge was on!I don’t know how many shampoos bars I tried.. with most leaving my hair greasy within a couple hours and flat. Never mind the one advertised on social media beginning with K which appears all the hype… that left me with a waxy birds nest where I had to soak my hair in cider vinegar to get it out before I could move forwardAnyway .. thought I’d try this.Cleans my hair lovely and next day .. as normal.. I’ll put my hair up as looking a bit off (that’s normal for me)Leaves my hair feeling clean, and silky. my scalp loves it. No itchy mess, no flaking. Smells lovely and gentle enough I can wash my hair every day if I wantI do feel I need a tiny bit of conditioner on the ends thoughMy only gripe is … I can’t find a tin the right size to store for travel. Fine for bathroom storage but need something for travel

This lasted 5 months and my hair has never felt healthier
This is gentle enough for everyday use but cleans well enough for use every 2-3 days. I've used it according to both frequencies depending on my workout schedule.I love the smell and the texture it leaves my hair with. I can't believe it's been five months and I still have some left. There's no getting around the fact that once you near the end of the bar's life, it breaks into smaller pieces. A minor inconvenience and totally worth enduring for healthy hair and a plastic-free product.

It’s great of you can’t use scented shampoo.
I can’t use scented shampoo or I’ll get a migraine. This is perfect. I love it.

Shampoo Bar
Better than liquid shampoo. 1 bar could last 4months or longer. Leaves my hair feeling soft & clean
