Worth every penny
Our family LOVES this series. If you get a chance to purchase the dvds they are also hilarious and educational.WE borrow the dvds from the library but the kids fell in love with a few of the artists so we bought those books. I'd love to have the entire series but it's expensive so i'll have to buy one at a time. I homeschool and we use these books as our curriculum base. We read through and I think of a project to go with it teaching a certain style, technique, skill, or medium. Meanwhile the kids are cracking up laughing and quote the books and movies. It is because of these books that my kids recognize the works of VanGough, Cassatt, Michelangelo and so far a couple more. We ahve gotten into discussions not only about art and artists but about thier lives, the history of thier times, the reason they painted that way, expressing emmotion, mental illness, patriotism, religion, determination and other morals. But if all you do is put the book on your child's book shelf they will have a common knowledge of artists most kids are never tought about. Beyond education they will enjoy it. They will laugh until they cry. They will talk about it and make inside jokes about the funny stuff and you may just learn something yourself. I grew up learning and loving art and I didn't know half of what I've learned form these books.

good job
he (they) did the best they could with Degas. there are many other painters included in the book. I like this series and my grandson (5 1/2) does too. he has rec'd Monet, Klee (my favorites), daVinci, all of which were excellent.

Edgar Degas book
This whole series of books is a fantastic introduction to children. So much of fine arts education has been ripped out of the curriculum. Theses books were a valuable resource to me as I was planning my fine arts curriculum. Very informative and uses friendly for children.

Interesting and informational - bibliography format, beautiful pictures of Degas art works, some humor, we enjoyed reading this simple book.

Great series
I bought all of the books in this series for our homeschool art curriculum. They are easy to read and a fun supplement that can lead to a nice trip to the Smithsonian Gallery of Art.

Wonderful book for kids
Absolutely wonderful presentation of an artist for kids ages 6-9. Short enough to keep a child' attention without boring him/her, fun illustrations, simple, but very informative presentation of the historical details at the child's level.

A great series of books
A great series of books. This Degas book explains his life with 5 or so lines on each page plus a picture. Most of the pictures are either his art work or pictures to do with his life, though some are cartoons (not so keen on these pages!). Great help for our project.
