Lose yourself in a magical realm!
I always struggle with reviews, especially when I'm reviewing something this good! as I am always tempted to blurt out everything I loved and enjoyed, but I also hate spoilers, so I have to hold back! When I started reading Dragoron I could feel myself travelling back in time. The author did a great job and setting the scene, it was as if I was back at "Big School" myself, experiencing it all alongside Lottie! The story is well paced and keeps you entertained from start to finish, you can't help but want to know what happens next!It is a book, and no doubt a series, for everyone to enjoy. Both myself and my 12 year old son enjoyed joining Lottie on her magical adventure and can't wait to read the next book.

An entertaining read for young readers
Dragoron is the first installment in Lottie and the magical realms series. It's a fast-paced, action-packed tale about a young girl destined to become the next High Sorceress and protector of the magical realms, fantasy worlds that exist parallel to our own. She and her three friends, who as it turns out possess magical abilities as well, must obey to but one rule: they mustn't use their magic outside their training and without their mentors' permission, or else they will be stripped of their powers and memories. Pretty harsh, I thought, but the reason will be explained later on.However, the kids don't have much time to explore their newfound powers that a menace from the magical realms turns their lives, Lottie's in particular, upside down. The story is told for the greater part through Lottie's point of view, which makes the events easy to follow and remember despite the fact that sometimes the story seems to proceed a bit too quickly. Just like any first book in a series, Dragoron is the prologue to something bigger, and the final chapters make you want to know what happens next.

Fantastic
Lottie Jones and the Magical Realms: Dragoron by H S Matthews is an exciting fantasy adventure story that keeps you intrigued right till the last page. The thing I loved most about this book was feeling like Lottie Jones herself was telling me her fantastically magical tale. I also really loved the themes of family and friendship. I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves magic and dragons.

Through Lottie’s eyes
I don’t often care for stories written first person point of view, so I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying this one. I was Lottie’s age a long time ago, yet I found myself remembering what it was like to be her age and how one views things from that viewpoint. The main character’s pluck and sense of curious wonder as the story unfolds is refreshing, especially blended with the mundane. The emotional depth was well done too.How does a child understand the grief of a parent? They don’t, and neither does Lottie as she navigates the shock of her own. I found that poignant and nicely handled
