May need modification
Some people report solar panel as not working? We had what we thought was that issue but it turned out to be a tolerancing problem in the main body, the main drive shaft was fouling on the case. Slight modification to the case and it burst into life. My boy loves it - if a bit challenging to build!

Fun To Build But Build Quality Of Some Parts Lacking
The media could not be loaded. The set arrived in a nicely presented box with all construction pieces on mould frame, components in separate bags, plus tools and a pretty decent instruction manual. The set was a lot of fun to build with my grandson and the elements of construction are laid out pictorially in a logical format but sometimes were a little confusing to be honest, but we got there in the end.We liked that fact that there are 14 different bots to build , so plenty of variation. Following the instructions was a good educational tool for the grandson too.On the negative side although the solar panel worked fine powering the motor when the sun was strong, but once it was fitted into the wheel assembly with all the relevant cogs to power it, it wouldn't move!It didn’t seem to have enough “Oomph’ to move the wheels. We checked and double checked the way we had constructed it, (which was correct), but it seemed the motor was under-powered.The connector from the base of the solar panel assembly also wasn't particularly robust and bent after a few times it was pushed in and pulled out, (see picture).Even putting the provided battery in place of the solar panel the result was the same . Enough to power the motor on its own , but not when it was connected to the drive for the wheels. Shame.Overall it was good fun to build but disappointing in regard to some of the build quality and powering the bots to “drive” . The concept was fine but I think the execution was off target unfortunately.

Not all the parts where there
I bought this a gift for a 12 year old boy to give him some hands on experience. He was keen and after Christmas set about building the model only to find out some of the pieces were missing. I had to send it back for a refund though i would prefer a replacement. Now he is going to spend the money on a video game. ☹️

No extra tools needed
What a great idea, this set is a bit of a mix of a Lego technic kit, model kit and electronics kit rolled into one. I love the fact that it's powered with a mini solar panel too, and how you can build so many different types of "walking" styles for the robot. The instructions take a good bit of focus. Mostly the steps are shown as images with a few brief comments in English and German. The target age is 10+ but I (a grown adult) found I had to really slow down to get each step right. I'd recommend using the included AAA battery to test as you go while building the gearbox unit - the instructions would have you wait until it's fully assembled with all the outer panels but these parts are very tricky to separate once you've joined them. The parts are all still in the plastic frame but a pair of snips are included along with a file for any rough edges. Each frame has a letter and all parts are numbered on the frame so it's easiest to only remove these when needed in the instructions. No glue is needed as the parts all fit snugly together and there are a few tools to help remove pieces (page 12) so you can try out a different design. The motor is a bit noisy but worth it to see the wee fella move about! Great kit overall and a wonderful introduction to models and robotics.

difficult for a younger child
I got this for my 9-year-old daughter so we could build the robots together as a fun activity. It came with loads of parts, and instructions on how to build 14 different designs of robot and building them been quite fun, although she regularly gets distracted, so I end up doing most of the work myself. The instructions are easy enough to follow, but I think 6-12 is probably a generous age range for the product in terms of the technical ability required to build the robots, with it definitely being more suited to the upper end of that spectrum.

Looks good, but not.
The packaging makes this look much better than it is.On first opening i was filled with confidence it was a great product. However after spending an hour cutting out all the parts it went downhill.Instructions are hard to read and see, very vague how to put together. When I eventually managed to get one model made is was flimsy and weak. Then the final straw the solar panel was dead. Tested with a multimeter and was completly doa.So tried with batteries, got a bit of life but still bearly worked. Had to take apart sand down all parts and add 3 in 1 oil. Eventually worked but only for a few minutes than motor died completely.Upon disassembly again several connectors snapped and not longer useable.Really bad poorly made product.Avoid at all costs.
