Agility Training: The Fun Sport for All Dogs

Quite good, and also a good reference
I wanted to get my dog into agility (an unfortunate accident prevented that). But, this was a good book for both reference and training in the sport. I'm still hoping to get a dog involved in agility. When I do, I'll use this book

Basic introductory book, for the novice with high goals
As a beginner I found this book VERY helpful. It is excellently written in a down-to-earth manner, with tips and hints for the greenest of dog/handler teams. It covers all of the basics such as what your dog should know BEFORE you train agility, how to train obstacles, basic right/left-hand turns, and even goes on into obstacle "proofing" and a few more intermediate level topics. As always, Jane Simmons-Moake made sure that you can't fail by putting in tips on "what to do if your dog..." and a very helpful obstacle-building section which is especially nice for those who have high goals. It is an essential book for any agility lover, especially those looking for an introduction to the most fun thing you can do with your canine pal!

A little behind in modern training techniques
With years of experience in training working dogs, I have decided to try Agility for a break in the routine! I thought this book would be good, but, alas, it is way behind in training techniques. I was quite put off by the mis-information, and in some cases, harmful information given. Very dissapointing. The author probably does have great depth of knowledge on the subject, but needs to attend a few up to date classes in dog communication, Operant Conditioning, or training in drive (all quite simular in application) and then re-write the book.

This is a great book for starting out in agility!!!!
This was a great book. I bught for my dog to give him something to do. He was so smart and it seemed a waste brain power not to teach something challenging. This book is easy to understand and even tells how to build ALL of the equipment. You HAVE to buy this book if you want to train agility. It's great.

A good book for everyone from beginning to advanced.
I read this book as I was trying to find ways to keep my Rottweilers busy. The book outlines what agility is, how to train, even how to build equipment. I have been to my first competition, and have a yardful of agility equipment built from the back of this book on which my friends and I practice.Ms. Simmons-Moake is easy to read. She is enthusiastic in her book and in person. I highly recomend this book especially to the beginner as they will get the nuts and bolts of agility.

A must for agility training!
This book is great! Detailed enough for the advanced, yet easy enough to understand for the beginner. Detailed instructions on building your own jumps, see-saws, weave poles, etc. make the book even better!

Very outdated
Very outdated.. In one section the book talks about muzzling a dog for barking in the ring? Not sure that's the practice these days.. Some good bits as well

Very informative
A very good book, lots of ideas. Could do with more ideas how to train dog over courses and have exercises. Second half of book about instructing rather than training
