A good book for modeler or history buff
Unlike some similar books, the author leads the reader to make some of their own concussions based on historical fact.A great example is when a tank was not positively identified in photos, he described which units were in the area based on historical records and their reported tank count of that type. He also uses similar paint schemes they were known for and other identification or equipment on the tank to either eliminate or suggest which unit rather than assume he guessed correctly. The color drawings of some of the photos were well done for modelers to recreate the tank color scheme. He explains possible inaccuracies of tank numbers color from black and white photos depicting faded white or yellow based on historical unit background . I’d much rather see this than different concussions stated as fact, when certainty cannot be proven beyond a doubt. Overall I enjoyed it as both a history buff and WW2 modeler.

The End of German Armor in Normandy
A great book with interesting narrative and some unseen unique photos. Also included are color plates of tanks shown in the photos. Useful for the scale AFV modeler for sure. Very happy with the book.

A great book with a few flaws
Overall, this is a very nice collection of "tank porn." Lots of pictures, and of course, the delectable color plates that really make the book. There is a short description at the beginning of each chapter that provides a brief layout of the tactical situation, although the absence of maps rather hinders a full understanding of the text. Another issue is the presence of a decent number of typos, incorrectly placed/captioned photos, and repeated text. I often found myself wanting to go over it with a red pen. While not a novice, I am far from an expert on German armor, so it makes me wonder if there are other errors that are not immediately apparent to me. Those points aside this is still a great book, and let's be realistic, the photos and plates are the big draw here, and in that respect I enjoyed it very much.

Neon or dayglow?
Nice photos, but the color profiles have very bright green color. Who would camoflage a tank in neon green?

Five Stars
Great color profiles, I like anything Dennis Oliver contributes to. Good book for the money.

An excellent book detailing the retreat of the German Armed Forces ...
An excellent book detailing the retreat of the German Armed Forces in the western theater. The reason for the 4 stars is that there are some editing errors in both print and captions for photos. Just a handful, but still. The color illustrations are very good, and the order of battle charts for individual units are reason alone to buy this book.
