Very solid performance and surprisingly bright even in conditions with some ambient light.
I have owned the Aurora Pro for a little over 7 months now. Overall, I have been very impressed. Below are a few of my thoughts. Also, for reference, I paired the Aurora Pro with Nexigo's 100" Fresnel screen and the setup is in my basement which has large windows. It is not an extremely bright space, but in no means a dark space either.- Background: I was coming from only using long throw projectors in the past. I really wanted the ability to have a UST where ppl didn't have to worry about walking in front of the projector. I also was sensitive to the projector not sitting too far away from the wall. This projector checked the box on both of those.-Performance: out of the box was really impressive. I don't quite have the expertise as many of the reviewers and other users out there around calibration, but I found colors to be quite good out of the box. The only change I often make on each startup is the focus adjustment. It's a quick adjustment, but it would be good if it could save that adjustment.- Support: I have found the various AVS forums to be very helpful in addressing any questions I have with the unit. Nexigo is often on those forums as well seeking feedback and looking to make their product better which I thought was a very good sign. Early products are hard and I could tell from their engagement that they truly wanted to deliver the highest quality performance possible for all customers.-Sound: The speaker actually is not bad at all. It's workable, but I would think most ppl looking to spend this much on a projector have a separate sound system and that's going to yield the best results.-Overall: I would recommend this projector. It has performed very well and especially with higher quality content it really shines. I am easily able to watch sports and such during the day with some of the basement lights on and I don't find the image too washed out. The picture is really quite amazing with lights out. One of the hardest things with the setup was actually finding a table that worked well with a UST. I ultimately want with crednza from Sauder.

Bright sharp image and great sound built in
Pros: Super easy to set up, and great user interface for keying in the image. Great refresh rate and color, with deep contrast. Audio is amazing considering it's built in. Build quality is really nice and well thought out.Considerations: In my configuration I mounted to the ceiling which is ideal for keeping dust off of the lense, however the threaded mount holes are aluminum so be careful not to over tighten, I would have liked to see steal to make sure it's fail proof. The remote is actually really nice but does use up it's batteries fairly quickly (4-6 months) from backlighting I suspect. But once they are low the range for the remote drops dramatically. Which is handy to tell they are low but also annoying when buttons don't seem to work.Overall I would buy this product again without hesitation. It has been flawless in delivering an amazing home theater experience.

Contrast isn't everything
Contrast and color sell projectors. They're usually king in reviews, and that's mostly what people focus on when comparing different models, and while the Aurora Pro has really nice contrast, and good colors it isn't enough to make the real world watching experience enjoyable. What's missing from most reviews is arguably the most important factor, to me at least, and that's motion handling. Reviewers scrutinize contrast and color using these beautifully shot 4k 60hz videos on YouTube, which the Aurora Pro handles very well, but almost all movies and TV shows are shot in 23.976hz (24p), which is what most of us are actually going to watch on our projectors, and the Aurora Pro just doesn't do a good job of handling that. The Aurora Pro is advertised as having a 24p mode to reduce judder in 24p content, but it does more harm than good. With "24p mode" off 3:2 pulldown is used, and as expected we get judder, choppy motion when scenes are panned. With it on however the judder turns into stutter during panned scenes, and worse creates micro-stutters for small motions like actors moving their faces. I end up leaving it off, as the stutter makes it far worse, but that's not exactly ideal. The Aurora Pro also has MEMC that can be turned on to smooth motion, but this creates a soap opera effect that a lot of people dislike, myself included. MEMC on this projector is also fairly janky. It's like it takes a couple of seconds to trigger from scene to scene, so you go from rough to smooth to rough to smooth throughout a show or movie. When it comes to action or high speed shots the motion also feels like it's being sped up and slowed constantly. It's not a relaxing watch.Another issue with the Aurora Pro is the focus uniformity. It not only constantly goes out of focus, but trying to achieve focus at both the top and bottom of the screen is a challenge. There's always going to be an area where the picture is somewhat blurry. This is more noticeable when gaming and not so much for watching movies or shows, but still an annoyance all the same.Lastly, quality control and customer service. My first unit had a defective fan that made a grinding/ticking noise, and that was promptly replaced by Nexigo, however this second unit had issues from the start. One where the picture randomly splits, and half the screen turns pink, and one where it starts constantly refreshing the refresh rate and resolution. After some back and forth with customer service and convincing them it wasn't the HDMI cable they agreed to set up an RMA. I asked if the replacement would be new or a refurbished unit, they confirmed it would be refurbished. I don't find that particularly fair that I purchase a new unit, receive defective units and am further punished by being given a refurb as a replacement.EDIT: So after sending my unit in Nexigo has said they aren't able to replicate the issue and so won't be replacing my unit, even though I had sent multiple videos and pictures of it occurring on every input and with their built in OS, instead blaming it on my Nvidia Shield, regardless of the fact that the issue occurs on their OS without any device, Shield or otherwise, being used. Check the forums, issues are starting to pop up for people left and right. Avoid this product.
