Q: I wear a 9W what size should I buy?

By the size suggestions, they suggested getting a 1/2 larger than your regular shoe size. I wear a 7, so I got the 7 1/2 size, fitted perfect.

Q: Can you wear these without socks?

You could wear any shoe without socks, but I would never recommend it.

Q: Is there room for orthotics in these shoes?

Yes there would be. They are very comfy, flat style shoes so if you need arch support you would definitely need your orthotics. They also have a padded heel/Achilles edge on the back.

Q: Is the part with the holes for the laces also canvas? I'm hoping to dye white ones and not sure color would take

No, they are metal and probably won't take dye. They are very comfortable.
