Cool thing to make a pond planter
Perfect for keeping the water clear and for making a floating planter!

Not as hoped
This thing it cute but don't plan on keeping a plant in it. It will help keep the green down in your pond but it gets waterlogged and sinks so the plant gets eaten. Cute idea poor execution.

Barley planter
I bought this more for the look as a planter than a water clarifier. I have tried similar products for a water clarifier and know they do not work. The planter hole is too small for anything but seeds. It is a nice looking product but does not work as a floating planter.

Good with caveats
Helped to clear our water within a few days but could not get it to stay upright, especially with a plant in it. Ended up partially submerging in our bog just before the waterfall & it stayed put there. Probably wouldn’t order another one.

Amazing, from green to almost clear in 3 days!!
I bought 3 other products to try to combat the algae problem in my pond, nothing was working! I was getting so frustrated— I put in the ball and and it started working immediately. I haven’t put a plant in it yet because I wasn’t sure if it would even work. I am so happy! My pond is finally back to almost clear and I can actually see my fish! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you!

Space for a plant is extremely small
Besides being able to put a seedling size plant in the middle, the whole barley straw bale leans precariously to the side, threatening to flush out the plant. Going to see if a styrofoam wreath ring will rectify the problem. 🤨

Looks great but have to secure so it doesn’t tip over with plants.
You definitely need to rinse and soak the Barley bale for a couple of days before you put it in your pond. Otherwise, it will discolor the water. One day after putting it in my pond and adding plants it kept flipping over. You can see in the photos my solution to that problem. The connection I got at an irrigation store and the clear tubing you can get at Any hardware store.

Disappointing
I planted a water plant in it and floated it in a 30 ga ceramic planter with 4 baby goldfish, hooked up to a recirculating solar pump. The barley did not keep the water clean. It is murky. And after two months, it rolled over and sank.

petit
Il est plus petit que je pensais mais a fonctionné tout l'été

Happy pond frog :)
Looks lovely in our pond. It does sink once saturated though so if you want to use it as a planter, keep it on the shallowest shelf. Our little green frog loves it too - sits in it for hours.I don't know if it works to keep algae blooms down but it's a nice addition to our pond.
