I didn’t need the fireproof aspect but I do grind, smoke, and work on cars on occasion. I burn more clothes working, through winter, in my garage next to my propane heater then anything. More or less bought it for durability, warmth and because the seams and pockets are pretty stylish but still manly. In my opinion, It’s the perfect balance of style and practicality. That’s hard to find these days. There’s something very John Wayne/firefighter/gunfighter about the look which is why I pulled the trigger. :) I live in the Midwest and upon arrival this jacket is plenty warm for working outdoors. Added to a base layer and a heavy weight hoodie you’ll be sweating and anything more and you’d be sweating and then freezing. Maybe it’s not warm enough for sitting still in a Midwest tree stand in January but plenty warm for active use. You ain’t wearing it inside long that’s for sure. Anyways, listen to the mass: Make sure you size down. I did and honestly still have plenty of room for a heavy weight hoodie. Arm pocket rocks too! Everyone says the zipper sucks but it’s metal and it seams okay to me upon first arrival.

I've lived in Carhartt jackets for most of my life. They're very nice, durable, heat and cold resistant, but this time, when I tried it on, and looked for hand pockets, they weren't there. The pockets have been moved up to under the rib cage. I almost can't reach them. Is this for when the wife steals it because she has shorter arms? Because that does happen. I must have gotten the wrong model of jacket. I'm keeping it, it's just going to be harder to keep my hands warm.

They say these are true to fit but I think they are a little on the large side. I ordered a large knowing that I would want to put some layers on under it. I can usually wear mediums but not with much else on. However even with layers this feels a little too loose. I have pretty long arms for my size but these were too long. I'm going to make it work though because as I said I think a medium would just be too tight.

My husband is tall and has a hard time finding jackets that will keep him warm at work and that are long enough because he is very tall. The coat fit perfectly and he said it keeps him warm at work.

Really comfortable and fast response when I had an issue with the first one dealing with delivery.

I was sold a jacket and it was out of stock and I called carhartt as there was a hold on my credit card and the customer service representative promised up-and-down that he would get back to me within 2 days that was over 3 weeks ago and meanwhile the coat is the wrong size. It appears they just sent whatever size they could find and I am going to be following up with them on Monday as this is Sunday. My son is an iron worker and this was a gift and he lives 2 and a half hours away so he needs to drive down to bring me the coat so I can send it back He owns a lot of carhartt but after doing some reviews I see that there are other brands that are just as good or if not better for flame resistant clothing. I will update this review after I speak to carhartt.
