PrincetonHeritage, Series 4050, Synthetic Sable Paint Brush for Watercolor, Stroke, 1/2 Inch

Princeton Heritage is my preferred brand for watercolor brushes and this one didn't let me down. The taklon fibers are durable and they hold plenty of liquid. Unlike a squirrel-hair brush, taklon fibers are springy and they keep their point for a long time. The fibers are longer than a regular flat brush so they hold a lot of water but you have to anticipate that they give under a lot of pressure. I highly recommend these and other PH brushes.

This is a very good square brush. There is no reason to spend any more $ for a square brush for watercolor brush.

I love the Princeton Heritage 4050 brushes. I hate this company, National Art Supply, I got this and other brushes from.For one, this brush was delivered a month after I ordered it. Second, it must be used but not advertised as used, because the brush had no gum coating and no protective plastic sleeve covering it. This is not the first brush I’ve gotten like this; I had another order with a fan brush and a size 2 round brush that also had no gum or plastic sleeve on them. They seemed fine so I didn’t feel the need to leave a review. I had also ordered a size 16 round brush from National Art Supply a couple months back, and after being in limbo for a month, the order was cancelled and I still haven’t gotten a refund for it. I’ve given them enough chances.TL;DR: get Princeton brushes from somewhere else, National Art Supply has so far had poor delivery with my orders, and might be selling these “Used” without marking them as such.

I love the Princeton 4050 series and have several other brushes from this line, but I was disappointed to find that this brush was shipped to me in a flat bag with no plastic covering, so a chunk of bristles on the side is bent. The brush otherwise seems to be in good condition so I think I can use it without much issue once I trim off the bent bristles, but I shouldn't have to do that with a new brush from a brand like this. Won't be buying anything from National Art Supply again.

The brush APPEARS fine, but it was just placed in the mailing envelope, no plastic cover, nothing to protect the bristles. Has it been used? I don't know - I just expected better packaging.

This 1/2" one stroke brush is wonderful!
