TIME-SERTM14x1.25 Spark Plug Thread Repair kit p/n 4412-321

I'll start by saying - I rarely go out of my way to write reviews, good or bad. This product, though... Worth the time!!! I'm an accomplished DIYer who used the Time-Sert tool set to restore damaged spark plug holes on a set of antique aluminum tractor heads. Worked like a Champ!! As easy as following the directions. I completed 2 repairs in 1 hour, restoring compression with no leak-down, and operating the tractor moments later. Granted, working on aluminum is easy, but I have no doubt this tool set would achieve nearly identical results on iron heads, too.The kit is packaged in a compact, sturdy plastic case. The tooling is top notch and finely machined. This particular kit also included 5 inserts, with restocks readily available.My only knock is the extremely basic, bordering on sad, instruction "insert." Not even a full page, and the pictures appear to be copies of copies of copies - bordering on faded and having poor resolution. Easy enough to figure out, but for the price of the kit, I think they could have done just a bit more with the instructions.Overall - Highly Recommended!!

I used this for a head on installation on a 17 HP twin cylinder Kawasaki mower engine. Easy to use, quality repair that should last a very long time. Expensive, but a high quality tool and components and a far better installation and product over a helicoil installation.

Follow the instructions. Be careful not to drop the tap down the head! Used on my 2000 LX470 which blew out a spark plug. Took my time and it worked! Crisis averted.

Used on a 4.7l Toyota to repair a spark plug that blew out of the cylinder. Absolutely no threads were left. This kit was worth every penny. Watched a YouTube video on how to use the tools in the kit and some sound advise was given on how to keep the debris to a minimum from going into the cylinder along with how to clean it out. Took about 30 minutes to do the job. It did take some significant force against the tap to cut the new threads for the insert. All in all 5 stars. Definitely saved a pile of money over having the head removed and a machine shop repair it. I firmly believe using a Time-sert is a solid permanent repair.

So kit was working great, I was blowing through the job quicker then I expected. Got to the point of cutting the seat and got 2-3 turns in and it got tough the turn so I put some mild pressure behind it and both teeth on the wrench broke off now making this solely a tap handle and I can't finish my job. Going to have to take it into my work tomorrow and make a new wrench just so I can finish this last process before installing the insert. This kit should come with 2 or 3 of these wrenches if they are going to be such shitty steel they snap at the lightest pressure. That or this seat cutter needs to be a hex head so that the wrench doesn't need to be designed so poorly.

This kit is easy to use, and makes a perfect permanent repair.
