To start with, I have a hip replacement and dodgy knees. The stop down to the patio is fairly high and was increasingly difficult to manage. This step seemed an obvious answer. A good intermediate height, nice size and seems non slip aluminum on top. Looks like it would last a long time. Mine actually arrived with a faulty (stripped thread) adjustable leg, but I was able to adjust the other legs, so that didn't matter to me. In fact it is so good it has convinced me to get rid of it and get a concrete step in it's place! Very useful.

Big, strong, not unsightly

Fixing of the aluminium plate is by pop rivets which allow water to enter the frame. This is now leaking rusty water which is staining the path. Ultimately the frame will rust and fail causing injury - possible expensive compensation claim? Better to have used a 'blind' pop rivets or other fixing method. Design analysis clearly has not considered this problem. In the automotive industry this may well have resulted in a product recall!
