PUMPS AWAY GENIUS IQ 800 Auto ON/OFF Cover Pump For Swimming Pools, 800 GPH 1/4 HP with Extra Styrofoam

I never used the product as i thought it was a pump I could just leave on my pool cover. However, living in the north east, the water would freeze. In the instructions for the pump, it states not to leave in freezing water due to potential damage to pump. So I returned it.

The one thing that the company conveniently leaves out of their description HOWEVER includes in the box as documentation, is that the pump will not turn on until it has over an inch of water and shuts off before it gets down to less than an inch. Does the manufacturer just not understand that this pump will NOT provide the necessary water removal necessary to keep a pool cover from damage? Poor design that could easily be remedied by moving the sensor to a lower point on the unit's base......but as it is currently, I'd highly recommend using another manufacturer.

The pump didn't work at first. I thought it was faulty. I called the company (through Amazon) to replace it and someone from the company emailed me back with some tips to get the pump started, like turning it upside down to "trick" it. Now it works great, especially when it is more than half submerged.

Worked great the first time I set it up. Heavy rains are pounding the area and it won’t create a suction anymore. The motor spins, but won’t discharge the water. Will be returning for a refund.

Does not work like you said does not come on when water have to go back out and cut it on I was thinking about sending it back

I used this pump for 2 months and it stopped working. I'm getting no sound or suction or anything. I want to check to see how they will handle the warranty as summer is over and I need to have a quality pump that will work during the winter for the cover.

Works well. Great for the price. Auto shutoff is a life changer
