Ahriman: The Omnibus

All is dust
I really enjoyed this book. There’s something about Ahriman, you shouldn’t want him to succeed but you just can’t help yourself. John French has done a great job with this omnibus. For long stretches of this book he lulls you in and you forget what sort of character Ahriman really is. In fact you feel sympathy for poor old Ahriman, then “bang” something happens and you get to see him for what he really is and the lengths he’s prepared to go to to achieve his goals. A must read for all Thousand Sons fans. If this review has helped you, then please hit the helpful button. Thanks

Fantastic exploration of a legendary character!
I have many many 40k novels and audiobooks, but this one is so dark that it really shines. Ahzhek Ahriman should need no introduction, and this is an immersive exploration into his fabulously flawed psyche and almost limitless psychic potential. Well done John French. I wanted to read it again as soon as I had finished it.

How did this even get published?
First of all: the first book is okay. Nothing spectacular, but it works as a story. The second and third... No. Just no. Dialogue that makes no sense, atrocious pacing, flat characters. The author constantly throws in plot devices that serve no purpose and have no impact on the story whatsoever. Entire factions get introduced only for them to do nothing and die. I've read trashy fanfiction with better structure than this.Do yourself a favor and do not get this book. It managed to kill off the majority of my hype for the Thousand Sons.
