I originally purchased this book (audio version) through Audible, but there was such a wealth of great insight and advice, that I decided to purchase a 2nd copy, this time a paperback, so I could have it at arms-length for reference.Elizabeth and Jerry have knocked it out of the park. “Founder VS Investor” is simply the best book on understanding, playing, and winning the VC game. With 3 tech start-ups already under my belt and having raised funding throughout my journey, Elizabeth and Jerry have hit all the nails on the head.Through their own unique (and many times opposing) lens, they’ve managed to eloquently distill all their timeless wisdom, furnish no-nonsense advice on how to side-step the typical bear traps, and espouse modern-day best practices when it comes to raising venture capital for your start-up.However, what I love most about this book (and why it is so unique), is the personification of such different viewpoints between the Entrepreneur (Elizabeth) and the Investor (Jerry) and demonstrates, that if you are not both truly aligned, it is very easy for the business to go sideways. What’s also nice, is that they each sum up their own viewpoint via a summarised key takeaways table at the end of each chapter.Their advice is practical, down-to-earth, and sensible which they pepper on each and every page. Both Elizabeth and Jerry are also not afraid to go where others don’t and have a dedicated chapter to “The Board of Directors” and how they really operate! Furthermore, if you are soon to fundraise, I would definitely review “Liz’s Absolutes of Fundraising” on page 54.There is a lot of noise in “start-up land”, but both Elizabeth and Jerry’s voices are definitely one of the few you should listen to. “Founder VS Investor” speaks volumes, and it should be on everyday rotation on every entrepreneur and Investor playlist. It is certainly on mine – 5 stars from me!!
