Not as good as it gets!
I bought two of these portfolio cases one in 14"x20 " and one in 23"x31". The items were packaged extremely well for shipping in a large cardboard box with paper padding. However the larger portfolio arrived with a tear on the top left corner where the fold for the lip is. I only bought these portfolio's after reading mostly positive reviews nonetheless I can't say these portfolio's suit my objectives, one of which was to store my medical x-rays in. However x-ray film is substantially heavier than say a sheet or sheets of paper. Thus, I will have to reinforce these portfolio's with silver duct tape as they are quite flimsy for storage of anything other than sheets of normal weighted paper and the description of them being constructed of heavy duty red fiber is a rather ambiguous and misleading representation as they feel more like thick paper. And I will agree with another reviewer who described the paper weight to be close to a manila folder. To be honest I wasn't expecting much for the price but was nontheless expecting the "red fiber" to be a bit more heavy duty.As a photographer I also don't think these portfolio's are sturdy enough to hold photo's (a heavy print stock) and if you are looking for protection and don't want your medium of work to get bent these are not the type of portfolios you would want. However, as another reviewer stated, inserting a piece of cardboard inside the portfolio would help to ensure works are not bent. All in all, I am extremely disappointed in regards to this product and to whats available in the marketplace. I've owned various types of portfolios for over 25 years and NOW can not find the type of portfolio I once owned. I previously owned a large portfolio that was quite simply two pieces of heavy duty board that tied on the sides and the top and would open all the way like a giant clam, and was non-expandable thus it would for example press on the drawings and or paper to ensure it stayed flat...as opposed to tube storage wherein the paper curls. But it was hard and fully protected drawings and so forth. I have however googled and searched endlessly and can't find anything like the previous portfolio I owned to which I used happily for over a decade and only disposed of when it showed signs of mildew and or mold. Sorry, it seems I have digressed, but should anyone know what I'm talking please let me know where I can buy one:-). In any event please consider these portfolios would be great provided they suit the intended application and or are used appropriately, that is for lightweight papers!

Don't waste your money
I bought this to store my kid's oversized school art. It's been sitting in my office for about a month and a half. I went to put some art in it today and all of the glue on the seams has released. It's literally been sitting empty and it's completely come apart. I can't imagine how this could last any reasonable period of time when it's actually holding art or other items with weight. Learn from me and the other reviews. Don't waste your money.

Good, Economical Archive Solution
We purchased these for storing our children's artwork. The construction is a heavy paper with cloth handles. The gussets allow the product to open up for additional thickness. These are advertised as acid free. The quality and price point is good for our use. These will not be moved around much; just filled and filed in the basement. If like us, you don't have the heart to throw away your child's art, this folio at least makes it more practical to hold on to it!I still have my folio from college photography and it has held up well these 15 years. No damage to the art within. I expect the same out of our newer purchase here.

arrived damaged
as soon as i saw the package, i was leery that this item would be damaged. i was right....something went clear through the flimsy cardboard it was packed in....no bubble wrap, nothing to protect this paper item! there was a hole in the top flap, through both layers of the portfolio. it is by no means 'red'....more like an faded industrial brick. i do like the woven handles. the size is perfect for me. it does accordion @ the bottom to expand & hold more sheets, however, someone in another preview said one drawing pad inside & the handle broke. pros: nice size, good handles, uncomplicated to open & close, expandable bottom. cons: not packaged very well, arrived damaged. it is not an attractive color. the only thing holding the flap down are the handles...could use a velcro tab or two. not meant for the long haul or the true professional. it works for me as i am not hauling around anything other than rice paper paintings in it. actually...will not be hauling it around much at all...will sit in a corner protecting my paintings until i die & get discovered post-posthumously.

Perfect for my needs
I bought this to store topographical maps of hiking areas. For my needs, it doesn't need to be particularly pretty, or sturdy, or durable. It just needs to hold the maps and keep them from getting wrinkled, and it does that very well. It's holding a stack of topo maps and a handful of folding maps and my printed directions to different trailheads, and still plenty of room for more.

Ok for lightweight items and no exposure to rain
This is ok for very lightweight items AND if it won't get at all wet. It is plain un-coated paper, so you don't want it to get wet. There is no closure; it just folders over at the top. If you want something a little sturdier, look for a similar Star Products item with "dura-tote" in the description; comes in several colors. The dura-tote is the same size (although the gusset may be slightly bigger; I didn't measure to verify, but it looks a little bigger), and has a velcro closure, and the paper is lightly coated so it resists moisture (it's not at all water proof, nor would you want it to get really wet, but it resists light rain just fine). This "classic" product is fine for very lightweight items, and if it won't get at all damp, and if you don't need a velcro or other closure.

Flimsy and cheaply made. Won't last!
Seemed like a really great deal; so I got it for my daughter's art class. It lasted almost no time at all, falling apart quickly. So, she ended up buying a much more expensive one at the local art store instead, (so much for saving money!). I'd recommend that you definitely pay a bit extra and get something that won't fall apart at the seams or break at the handles shortly after arriving!

Great product and easy to carry your work
When I ordered this it arrived in a cardboard envelope, but the rain took the brunt of it, so they were kind enough to send me a replacement. And boy am I happy with this product. It’s exactly what I need to carry my work, because it’s light, sturdy, and keeps my precious artwork stored properly. Thanks!
