Moonfern Barley-Straw Logs 3 pack

I am not sure exactly how barley straw works, but it clearly does and more quickly than I imagined. I recently refurbished and refilled my pond and within days it developed an algal bloom. The water went deep green, not helped by the hot weather and sunshine recently. I put three of these barley straw longs on the bottom, anchored by a stone. Also, I left the circulation on. In fact the logs were quite close to the pump, to get the water to pump through them as much as possible, as per the recommendations as I recall. Within 2 weeks the pond had cleared hugely and its slowly getting clearer. Also, the green algal stain on the sides of the pond has also disappeared completely. I am impressed by this product and will use them every year,

I heard that Barley Straw Logs were good for sorting out green water & algee in the pond after making my pond i brought a pack three Barley Logs. I've only used one & my pond water is Crystal Clear. So what ever it does works with out the need for chemicals which would defeat the object of creating a wildlife pond.Package arrived in a timely manner, well packaged. Others have commented the logs were not well made they looked cool to me considering I'm chucking in the deep end (of me pond) to rot down so don't have to see an anyway.

The tadpoles seem to love it, they must find something on it to eat. I placed the barley in the pond and poured water onto it to help it sink, takes a week but I prefer this way to tying weights, had I sunk it straight away I would not have seen how the tadpoles love it. A new pond and so a green pond, every little helps getting it to mature, my other pond took a couple of years.

Arrived well packaged and does the job! Keeps the pond clean - bear in mind that you should not soley rely on this product to keep the pond clean. It works best with other methods of keeping the water safe for all the pond loving critters. Thank you.

These really keep the green blanket weed out of the pond, They sink quickly and are effective. Once on the bottom of the pond except for the clear water you wouldn't know they are in the pond, for us and our fish, some of which we have had for 30 years it is better than a chemical treatment.

Very cheaply made. I'd bought some before that were compressed straw and nicely made, this is literally hay bundled into a mesh bag. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence either but my fish (that have been healthy for years) got a funcgal infection a few weeks after adding this to the pond.

This works every time in conjuction with a bacterial pond bomb

Very poor quality, turned the water a disgusting brownish green and sank to the bottom the next day.
