Size: Medium, Use: Tail on 118 lbs Alaskan Malamute - Thank you!
My Alaskan Malamute had a 4cm benign follicular cyst removed from his tail. I did not fully understand how serious this surgery was and his tail almost died. The vet wanted to chop it off. Horrifying. His tail is starting to improve through lots of home care and prayers. Even with the protective collar he could still reach and lick his wound. I was not sure the size to get; however, the medium size was perfect. As there was a lot of fluid from the vet applied tail bandages and they kept slipping off the vet wanted to leave the wound uncovered to air out. I did not think this wise. I searched for a breathable bandage. This is perfect. Love it. I used this with the Curad Non-Stick Pads, 3 Inches X 4 Inches 10 Count (Pack of 1) and applied triple antibiotic ointment. Very thankful for this product. I would/will never put any pet through this surgery again unless it was absolutely necessary. I even had to ask the vet to give him a second antibiotic and go from giving him pain meds every 12 hours to every 8 hours as he was severely uncomfortable. You know your pets and you should advocate for them as needed. Happy Tails! And, please pray for his tail. 🙏🏻😇Update: This did not stay on his tail. I am trying a knee-high sock and a small size non-constricting hair tie. Still 5 stars for the multitude of uses this product is good for. Tails are tricky.

Good and not so good things about these
They fit will, have a good sized pad inside, stay closed. Got these to cover a sore on dog's leg, but now it looks like they bottem edge of the bandage is rubbing and making another sore spot

Not suitable for crazy orange cats
My cat, who is orange and crazy, would always find a way to free his paw from these. I kinda just let him be happy at this point. No judging just a tired momma cat.

Worked well
This worked well for me… well the dog. My goal was to keep a gauze wrap around my dogs wound. These allowed me to wrap it around the gauze to keep my dog from unwrapping it. A cone for him would have been too much for his anxiety. They are somewhat washable, but I wouldn’t unles you using it the way I did, and need to wash off things from outside ..like dirt. I wouldn’t wash them and reuse against the wound. I am currently using the without the gauze. Wrap, to keep my dog from liking it and reopening it, as well as… allowing it to get some air while it finishes healing

My dog is like Houdini
My dog is Houdini. Hot spots on her hind leg for months plus biopsy wounds that would not heal because she could get every wrap off and still lick her wounds with a variety of e-collars we tried. Finally, with this bandage (plus an extra wrap of self adhering tape around top and bottom - or a piece of duct tape over the Velcro parts, like another reviewer mentioned) she met her match. At night I added a long sock on top just so she could not spend all night attempting to tear the thing off, but overall it is the best thing out there to allow a wound to heal without the dog licking it to death. The inner pad that goes over the wound seems to be non-stick and somewhat water (lick) resistant. I have researched options for hours and spent a lot of money ordering e-collars and other bandage-like contraptions. These bandages are the best and, even though a bit expensive (I use 1-2 a day), they will save on continual vet visits in the long run.

Easy way to cover a wound
These are so easy to use. Our dog tends to lick her paws or legs, sometimes until they’re raw. When that happens, we put on some antibiotic ointment, cover it with one of these, and then use a little self-adhesive bandage wrap. Within a few days (around the time it starts sliding down), the wound is healed. It’s best if these are covered by an elastic bandage. They work great but could be more easily chewed by animals. But these are far better than gauze and a wrap, because they’re not bulky and thus less bothersome. Our dog leaves them alone.

The bandage comes off.
We followed the instructions on how to apply but the bandage does not stay in place for long. I thought I had applied it incorrectly so my husband did it and it still came off after a little while. It seems that the velcro-like strips to secure it are not "sticky" enough. I would have returned it but used 3 already... Unfortunately, I do not recommend this product.

Stay on the leg and don't slip off
My 18 year old Siamese cat had a tumor removed from his leg. He had to wear a cone for two weeks. (There is no shame in the cone, many famous and well respected cars have worn the cone and we do not come shame in this house!) During the day when we could watch him we put these bandages on so he wouldn't be able to mess with the stitches or at least if he started trying, we would have time to stop him. At night he still had to wear the cone but he got a break from it during the day.
