I've bought several travel Lonely Travel books, and I've been really happy with them. I think this one was the least useful, and it really didn't help us much.

Very helpful, accurate, and up to date for first time visitors to Belize in Feb 2024.Please please please add maps, the more the better.

Lonely planet seems to fail to understand why people bought the guides. The new format is terrible and doesn't have the sort of information the old formats had. RIP, this company is done.

Disappointing. Being the latest edition we thought it would have the latest information. But they only recommend 3 places to stay in Belize City, one of which is closed. So I have to wonder about the rest of it.

I've bought Lonely Planet books for years, but no more. This book has virtually no helpful information for planning a trip to Belize and Tikal! So disappointed!

Been reading all the major Belize travel guides since 2011. In each issue, they are not updating/confirming listings for all lodging, restaurants and activities/tourist sites for hours, prices and existence. It is not an issue of information changing between the time the travel writer was there (if they were even there) and publication/distribution date. Places that have been closed for years are still listed. Old rates are still listed. Other pertinent travel/country info is not updated. You need to inquire with the source/vendor to get up to date info, and even then their own websites may not be up to date either, so email, call, message them when accurate info is crucial.This LP issue is different from older ones in how they list where to stay and eat. Just a few mentions at the bottom or sides of pages. Don't like it.

The new lonely planet books have a new format, with new owners. The format is hard to follow, lacks detail and is just not interesting to read. There is more focus on making the page look pretty and less on the actual content that made people buy the books. Get a Rough Guide instead.

Ottimo come sempre

I've used LP guides for travel for over a decade. Never have I been so disappointed in a guide book. Their standard structure of location, key sights, accommodations, restaurants, shopping, getting there/away is all gone in this version. The book provides an overview of some key sights to see, but only provides high level overviews of areas. There are no explicit recommendations for places to stay or where to go. I would highly recommend using a different guide book for Belize. Worst LP I've ever seen, by a country mile.
