Fine-blade top premium quality grass.
Beautiful and fine deep green luxury grass seed. Gives a dense lawnIf you want a deep green luxury lawn, this is great.Tolerates dappled shady areas well in my experience.Sprouts quickly and reliably if sown/spread with care and watered attentively whilst establishing.Despite last year's 2022 heatwave/drought/hosepipe ban, this grass has come back and survived fully intact.Best mix I have found for a premium/luxury lawn.Interesting to peruse the Barenbrug website who are grass specialists.

Best grass seed I've used!
We've recently moved into a new house with a fairly big garden. The garden was a bit overgrown and as we removed overgrown shrubs we exposed large areas where the lawn had died. I have a friend who recommended this brand of seed as the manufacturers are experts in their field (pun intended!) - I believe Barenbrug supply grass seed to sporting stadiums so they must know their stuff!I didn't exactly follow the instructions on the pack - I basically cleared the areas of weeds, raked over, gave the soil a bit of a soaking, scattered the seed by hand and then tossed some compost over the top and re-watered. I tried to keep everything watered daily but in practice there might have been a day or two missed.5 weeks on and the patches that I planted have a lovely thick, deep green covering of grass - the only problem is that the rest of my lawn now looks rubbish next to the new grass but that just means I'm going to have to order a bulk load of this stuff!Would highly recommend to anyone who want a lush, green and immaculately looking lawn with very little effort

Better than Patch Magic
We have 4 x rabbits who love the mow the lawn, literally have stopped using the flymo hover, and only use the strimmer these days as they mow the garden for us :DHalf the garden is in the shade, the other half isn't, they eat the grass all over and poo in patches which clumps the grass causing patches, also their urine stains and damages creating patches also.We have used fertilizer, miracle grow patch magic (it does work but not as good as this, but will come to that later), and other remedies to try and fix the patches and general gaps / growth issues in the lawn.We took them off the grass and spent two weeks trying to fix it, again. The patches were treated with "The easy fixer" which is similar to patch magic, but works about 50% better. After two weeks there are loads of little tiny grass shoots coming up in the patches, and elsewhere in the lawn (it was spread all over by the wind)....I used this, along with the evergreen lawn feed: https://www.amazon.co.uk/EverGreen-Spray-Feed-Lawn-Food/dp/B004RG2PD8/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1501432532&sr=8-10&keywords=evergreen+complete+4+in+1Also spinkled some rabbit droppings all over the garden as a natural fertilizer. The lawn is now 90% repaired, patchless and they are ready to go back mowing!! :DOf course, your results may vary, but I hope this review helps.

Good but not perfect.
Planted as per instructions. What has grown is ok. Not sure germination has been very good as seems quite thin. Also the birds love to eat it so I have lost some to them too.

Amazing!
This lawn seed is fantastic! I've tried many other varieties of grass seed - some of which were more expensive than this - and none of them were anywhere near as good as 'Green Velvet'. The seed grows quickly (given the right conditions or plenty of watering) resulting in a beautiful deep green, fine bladed but thick coverage of grass. I bought this to fill out patches in my lawn but was so pleased that I've purchased another bag to overseed the rest of the lawn. I won't be buying any grass seed but this in the future.

Poor germination
I did test pots and only got around 10% germanation at best. The image shows another brand with 30% rye. This image is at about 2 weeks. No more seeds germinated after what you see in the image. I also used it for overseeding and didnt notice any change after. I have purchased the A1 lawn pltinum pro (without rye) since and have seen amazing germination after 7 days. I would go with that if you want better germonation and also far nicer looking grass with a more fine / dense structure and also darker colouring. I'm avoiding Barenbrug after this and sticking to A1 lawn for the fine fescue and Germinal for ultra fine rye. These are the best places to go for the highest rated cultivars and germination rates.

I have been trying to fix patches in my lawn ...
I have been trying to fix patches in my lawn for a while now - between the kids going wild and a shaddowy corner this used to be quite difficult. This product has so far worked out really well: it grows grass in all sorts of challenged places, quickly, and densely. The first photo is of an area which had a big hole; the other two are applications I just did.

Don't buy. Waste of money.
I maintain my lawn regularly and have always seen good results when over-seeding and repairing patches using cheap "buy by the kilo" grass seed. This year I thought I would look for something a bit more premium so purchased 1.5Kg of the "Green Velvet" grass seed. Followed all instructions and watered regularly and after nearly a month can see only a handful of new blades of grass. This is pretty useless grass seed. I would recommend steering clear of this product and looking elsewhere. My experience now is that sometimes cheaper is better.
