Product Description DVD Special Features Shadowskill The Epilogue English Audio 5.1 Japanese Audio 2.0 English subtitle option Photo Gallery Chapter Selection Character Biographies .co.uk Review Shadow Skill is a fairly conventional sword 'n' sorcery/martial arts comic and this anime version consists of various linked stories most of which exist purely as build-ups to prolonged displays of battle pyrotechnics. Ella is a champion in the Shadow Skill school who has adopted young orphan Gau as her brother and apprentice; Scarface, an even greater champion, also has an interest in the boy's training. A rival takes Gau hostage in order to kill Ella before an arena confrontation; the pair, and Ella's friend Fowari, helps young Quo against the monstrous King of the Moon; an evil stepbrother misleads Fowari into attacking Ella. In the shorter feature "Epilogue", Scarface rescues Ella from the sinister Wolfman and she and Gau engage in an all-out fight as part of his training. The animation is better than that in some anime, but is nothing remarkable. On the DVD: Shadow Skill has rather aggressively loud Dolby Sound and the option of listening to it in Japanese with subtitles or in poorly dubbed English; it comes with images and short biographies of the characters as well as Web links and ads for other animes. --Roz Kaveney

short and just above average
unless you have watched the shadow skill series (or plan to) this movie seems very short and the story seems a bit thin and rushed. the relationships between the main characters is not developed very well and it doesnt leave u thinking at the end, unlike films like akira or ghost in the shell. if u just want to see a bit of fighting or blood or you are a fan of the series then buy it.

Real escapism
Shadow Skill is about a young girl named Ella who has extraordinary fighting skills. When she wins a major fighting tournament, her name gets around. She assists those in need of help on her journeys, her younger brother tagging along, clearly anxious to learn her skills. However, some of her friends have hidden agendas, and want her title as shadow skill champion. The animation is fantastic, detailed and smooth with nice effects. The characters are likeable, and you can see the bonds between them grow as they work their way through difficult situations together. This is real escapism, with beautiful scenery, inhuman powers, huge , murderous demons, and of course, an overdose of good, clean hyper-violence. Definetly worth a look.

Extremely dissapointed
This is one of the worst anime features i have ever seen it's absolute rubbish. The story does not make sense plus the characters don't develope at all except a couple, the movie is about this child called Gau and his sister called Elle. The only way i could put it is that it's mostly about fighting evil dark characters and nothing else. Oh and the epilog is worse, some stupid characters come out of no where that have no detail or development, it's rubbish, as an anime fan and collector i advise you to not buy this dvd it will dissopoint you.

Wins the prize for the single worst English dub of all time
Where to even begin with Shadow Skill? Let's get the obvious out of the way first - the show is in possession of the most laughably horrendous English dub you'll ever have the misfortune of hearing. It's so bad it's almost worth buying this DVD just to hear. Seriously, some of the accents on offer need to be heard to be believed - like some bizarre hybrid of South African, Cockney and American. As for the plot, it's all pretty forgettable stuff - sub Dragon Ball pap about becoming the strongest, and a dodgy bro/sis (but not quite) combo that beat the heck out of each other for LOLs. Oh, and there's those annoying signs that pop up and scroll over the screen every time someone calls out an attack. With dated animation and such tacky presentation, it's hard to find much to love here - although rest assured there's far worse out there when it comes to early 90s anime. I'm almost tempted to recommend this simply as it's in many ways the best of a bad bunch - a gateway drug if you will to the cesspool that is bad anime. And trust me, English dubs don't come any more hilariously awful than this.

Shadow Skill
I absolutely adore this dvd/film. The characters are brilliantly drawn and the motion capture is sensational. The main characters Ella and her adopted brother Gau whose parents were killed by bandits when he was only a boy of ten. The pair has been making their journey across the land testing their Karude school martial arts. Gau's dream is to one day become like his idol the legendary warrior scarface who is an expert in the karuda style shadow skill. The only let down with this DVD/film is the characters voices. Gau's (when he uses it) is very deep and sharp, this matches his tormented past, but as for Ella, she always seems to be upbeat? Definitely not matching her past!

So bad, it hurts.
About a month ago, I bought shadow skill as I'm an anime fan expecting a high action packed martial arts crazed anime. Might I say, that it does not live up to my expectations. Trust me friend, anime fan or not, stear clear away from this one or prepare to have to sit through 2hours of agonising pain. Trust me, you won't regret it!
