'Success unshared is failure.'GOOD FORTUNE is the rags to riches tale of conscious capitalism pioneer John Paul DeJoria. The son of Greek immigrants, born into humble beginnings in East Los Angeles, John Paul DeJoria has built a life full of good fortune and achieved vast wealth through a variety of businesses, among them John Paul Mitchell Hair Care Systems and Patron Tequila. In 1980, he partnered with Paul Mitchell to start a line of professional hair care products. They turned a $700 investment and 3 products into a wildly successful venture that today is worth more than $800 million. Proving his success wasn't just a fluke, John Paul then created the largest and the most recognizable tequila brand in the world - Patron.GOOD FORTUNE focuses on DeJoria's inspiring success story as well as his philanthropy. It's the true tale of a man who overcame obstacles and dedicates his life to giving back to those less fortunate. He ran through his early adulthood in and out of motorcycle gangs and today John Paul's quest is finding innovative ways to share his sizable fortune. DeJoria spends his life creating back-to-work programs for the homeless, fighting whale poachers in the Arctic and working on over 100 other philanthropic ventures. Along with Bill Gates and Warren Buffet DeJoria signed 'The Giving Pledge,' a formal promise to continue to contribute more than half of their wealth to philanthropy or charitable causes during their lifetime or in their will.Dan Aykroyd narrates the film spinning colorful stories with humor and wit. GOOD FORTUNE is an incredibly powerful and noble narrative that gives an informative and entertaining picture of this self-made billionaire and verifiable poster boy of the American dream.

Disappointing fluff piece. There is very little to no information about JP the human being. We are told that he once was a biker or rode with biker gangs. What did he do while with them? We are never told. How did he work out any of his big deals? Don't know. What about past wives? Past co-workers? Interviews with Mitchell? Not there. Just a very corporate fluff piece.

Wonderful film.
Loved the film, but loved knowing that people like this still exist in a world I think is beyond salvaging anymore and gets worse by the day. I'm just so impressed that some people see clearly what to do with money and wealth and know that love has the highest value of all things while helping others in life is why we were all put here to begin with. John Paul makes me try to be a better human being and serves as a roll model of sorts to leave this world better off then when I came here. Great film. Show this to all kids to serve as an example and show them what one person really can do if they're heart is bigger than they're brain.

Heart warming !
I heard about this dvd on The Garry Meier podcast out of Chicago. The price was fair on amazon so I immediately jumped on buying a copy. I did not know much about John Paul DeJoria except he was with Paul Mitchell Hair. This dvd is well edited and very entertaining. It's about an hour, maybe a little over. John Paul's life of "rags to riches" and ending up a philanthropic billionaire with a heart of gold was so heart warming to see. I shared this with several people who enjoyed it as well.

Inspire your students to do more and be more!
I am a high school teacher and one of courses I teach as life skills. John Paul's film is inspiring and motivating. I use it as the conclusion of my career unit. I love this film because it really communicates to my students that it is as important to choose a life and an attitude as it is to choose a career. Although I can say these words, and even write them on the board, watching John Paul in action puts it in the student's brain in a way that is unimaginable. Highly recommended!!!

Great, Inspirational Story
I got to know a bit about John Paul DeJoria while living in Austin, TX, which John Paul also calls home. He's a unique guy with an amazing story having gone from homeless selling hair care products out of his car trunk to a billionaire who also founded Patron tequila. If you want to be inspired or want to see how it's possible to be self made in America then I recommend watching this movie.

Wonderful movie - truly inspiring
As a business owner myself, I've always loved John Paul Dejoria's business story, but had not ever seen much of the behind the scenes material about his trials & tribulations, the magnitude of his charitable endeavors, or his candid personality (I'm used to see/reading him in business interviews, etc.) I recommend this movie to everyone young and old, in business or just starting out in life!
