Nice assortment and would make a very nice gift for a coffee lover, but I'm enjoying it myself!
This is a really nice gift idea for a coffee lover that likes to try different varieties, or just for yourself as well. I have never roasted coffee before and it was both fun and easy. You receive everything you need to roast and finish 6 different types of coffee, with the exception of a grinder. I have tried two of the six varieties, and both were very good. After roasting, removing the skin with the de-chaffer, and letting the beans sit, they were ready to grind. I used them in my French press and the coffee was wonderful. I think part of the enjoyment was knowing I roasted them myself and that they were super fresh roasted when used in the French press. There are a little less than 2 oz of each bean, so you don't get a lot, but for trying out coffee roasting and different types, this is really fun and enjoyable. It's also a great way to find out which type of bean you like the best for future use.

For the coffee lover in your life.
I've always toyed with the idea of roasting my own coffee. I love coffee, I love the smell and the taste and the effects it does to your mind and body. After watching some videos online on roasting coffees and actually seeing it roasted in one of my visits to a Costco in Seattle, which had a gigantic roasting machine, I wanted to try out making my own coffee. The coffee roasting kit by Ourhands comes with almost everything you need to roast your own coffeee. There are 6 different type of raw green coffee beans, a de-gassing pouch, de-chaffer to take out the dried skin from the beans, a colored chart to check the darkness of your roast and an instruction booklet. The instructions basically has you baking the beans for an approximate amount of time based on how dark you want your beans to be in an oven. Although the baking method works okay, it's not the best though since you get uneven roasting unless you constantly stir the beans. I think a better method is to use a small pan or pot and slow cook the beans while stirring it and watching the color change . This method is closer to what real roasting plants do to their beans, but it is more work but I think the results come out better. The only thing I wish that this kit improved upon is adding more beans, not the variety, but the quantity of each type of bean. The small 1.7oz packets of green beans is hardly enough to brew enough for two people. I do like that this company included different varieties of samples of beans so that the person can decide which they like better and maybe source it in bigger quantities for a cheaper price. Overall, this is a good gift giving item for someone who loves all aspects of coffee and not just order and drink one, as it requires them to actually make their own coffee from scratch.

Fun Adventure for once in a while
Really fun and educational dive into what goes into the coffee that ends up in your cup. I can't see this being our everyday type of coffee thing, but the Roasting Kit by OurHands sure was a fun little activity. Buying another one closer to Christmas and giving it to my brother!Long term, I'll leave the roasting to the professionals, but this one is definitely a must-give gift to any coffee lovers in your life.

So fun and clever!
I love the idea of this kit! I’ve often gifted my husband brewing equipment (a nice burr grinder, vacuum storage canister, etc.) so I thought it would be fun to take it a step further and roast our own coffee. The kit contains six different types of beans (they rotate seasonally), a plastic de-chaffer, a de-gassing bag, and a reusable filter. There are also instructions on how to roast the beans to your preferred level. It does seem like the method doesn’t result in the most even, professional roast, but the process still works nicely. I wish there were some guidance on blending the beans as well, as so far we’ve kept them separate. Overall, this is an enjoyable kit for coffee lovers and would make a great gift!

Educational and fun! ❤️ GREAT GIFT!!
I’m so excited about this kit that I had to review before I used it.This kit is so thoughtfully put together. Scott and Justina so obviously show their love of coffee culture in the production of each kit and the materials and thoughtful words they provide in each kit.I am a coffee freak. So, I am ecstatic to try this out and to learn about the origin of each species of bean. And, to learn about roasting each to the flavors I desire.GREAT GIFT!! I plan on buying kits for each of my coffee loving friends and family.FUN FUN FUN 💯❤️

Fun to try
This Coffee Roasting Kit is fun to try.It is good for beginners and contains six different types of green beans, degassing bags, coffee filters, and dechaffing tools, I only need an oven to brew the coffee. This is the first time I brew coffee by myself, I think it's a good try.

An unusual gift for a coffee addict
This was a gift for my husband who needs strong coffee to get going in the morning. The box seemed quite small, but my husband was very pleased with the number of beans it contained. The instructions seem easy enough.

Couldn't pick up the notes that easily
The media could not be loaded. With six different coffee beans and simple instructions that are split across two days, I found this an ideal activity for a chronic illness sufferer, like myself. Do check that your oven gets hot enough, to at least 230 degrees Celsius. One of my counter tops only goes up to 220. The first bag that I went with was the yellow bourbon and chose the timing for a medium roast. Surprisingly, the beans began to change colour quickly and the process was enjoyable to watch. I think I heard a couple of cracks too, but my mini oven is noisy. Once done, the card suggested that they were the colour of a medium to dark roast. The de-chaffing basket works well, but a favourable part of the process for me, was the smell of freshly roasted coffee. It even had hints of a tea scent, which going by what I had read, was a good thing. The next day, I ground the beans down and poured water through them. The aroma was still lovely, but the taste was far too strong for me. I also couldn't pick up any of the notes, let alone fruity ones. With that in mind, I chose to do the rest of them as a lighter roast, but they still came out strong. I found it difficult to pick up some notes, although the woody, tobacco and chocolate ones were the easiest to find. Adding oat milk did help to bring out some of the flavours. Once ground down, it worked out that I could get approximately three cups of coffee out of each set of beans. Overall, I had good fun with this kit and it was definitely an unusual experience.

It's a present but it looks the part
I haven't opened it yet as it's a present but it certainly looks the part. For a coffee lover, what more of an experience could you want than roasting your own beans for full freshness? Thanks.
