Trams & Trolleys in the Netherlands Dvd, Volume One - Amsterdam & Den HaagThis first volume of Trams & Trolleys in the Netherlands visits Amsterdam and Den Haag. Starting adjacent Amsterdam Centraal Station, three of the new Combino units are seen and one of the fast disappearing yellow liveried Werkspoor trams. Travel to Stadionplein on Route 24, then on to the Metro at Olympisch Stadion, the terminus of this route, before moving on to Sloterdijk Station. Route 12 is visited and with a change to Route 5 at Roelof Hartplein the journey to Amstel is made, followed by a stop-over at Oranjebaan where high and low level platforms designed for use by both Metro and conventional trams are used. A section of strenglespoor is viewed in Reguliersbreestraat before visiting Muntplein at the height of the rush hour where trams of all types arrive and depart in all directions - followed by another busy junction at Leidesplein. The Magna Plaza and Dam bring to a close this section on Amsterdam. New and old (the first generation articulated trams will have now finished running since this programme was filmed), all come together to convey the fascinating tram system of Amsterdam. The tram routes of Den Haag vary from city-centre street running to coastal routes and from sand dunes to the truly inter-urban Route 1 to Delft. From leafy, cobbled squares to busy junctions, day and night the complexities of the Den Haag system is covered in this section. A Videolines Production (2004). Approx. 60 minutes.
