Good for fieldwork
When the pages get wet, they won't tear, but writing on them is pretty tricky. It is bound well, so water won't make the pages separate. Pencil at least works well, but you should not use a rubber on wet pages. When drying, separate the pages, else they will stick together and will tear, when they are dry again. The middle column is good for sedimentary logs. Overall, it works pretty well for fieldwork.

Top Spec!
YES! These are great. Not a civils/architecture man, but for surveys where you're visiting lots of assets (Railways for me) it's good to have something methodical like this. I only use the RHS page which is probably a waste, but i'm happy and will definately be buying again. Good in wet weather, but USE A PENCIL, i learnt my lesson with the rain a few years ago....

Very sturdy and can withstand some rain
I use it for my geology field trips and is essential instead of a notepad. Avoid putting it in heavy rain and use pencil. Very sturdy and can withstand some rain, dirt and blood covering it. For the price nothing better on amazon (in the context of field notebooks).

Cover bent and damaged
I have purchased these notebooks before so was attracted by the special offer. This book does not seem to have been stored well as the cover is bent and warped. The corners are knocked and overall it does not have a new appearance.

The best
Chartwell books are the best. I toted mine across the Himalayas and the Andes and they come through with flying colours every time. Good on site, fits in pockets and never break. What more is there to say.

Decent waterproof notebook
I'm a Geology student and have been using Chartwell notebooks for all my field trips. These are incredibly sturdy and won't fall apart when the weather is awful (and it often is), although I've found that it's difficult to write in pencil when the pages are wet from the rain. This notebook is presented vertically which typically not the geology format, but I've found it to be even more convenient to make use of space when doing full page sketches. Overall, it is quite pricey for a notebook but as a geologist it's worth it.

Perfect!
Survived the wind and rain of a university geology field trip to the Pyrenees. Great product. Will be buying again.
