New classic!
My 11 month old found this in the baby bin at the library and loved it so much that we had to buy a copy. I ready it to her everyday before naptime and at bedtime. The pictures are beautiful and the rhymes are very soothing.

The book is written in lyrical rhyme with cute, brightly colored illustrations of baby animals being put to bed. The author educates small children with the sleeping habits of animals they are familiar with, such as puppies and ducklings. The book also includes several animals cuddling with their mothers that small children might not even be aware of such as moles, sloths and pink flamingos. The illustrations show baby bats sleeping upside down, a joey in their maternal kangaroo pouch and a little fish sleeping with eyes open while swimming alongside its mother. Giraffes are displayed with intertwined necks and the baby bees are honeycombed. My favorite illustration was the caterpillars asleep in their peapods.Excerpt from the book: "Are you sleeping, little caterpillar? Crawling in a peapod after dinner?"I recommend this book for parents of toddlers and small children.ARC courtesy of the author and publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

View all my reviews

Cut sleeping baby animals
Ah with a title like this book has I knew that I had to request it from *Netgalley. I'm always looking for bedtime specific books to read to my son so I was excited to give this one a go.This simple rhyming book shows the sleeping habits of all different baby animals. This was a nice short simple book. It is perfect for very young readers, animal lovers, and for when your child wants just one more book and you are all read out. The illustrations are adorable and the soft soothing tone of the book is perfect for night time reading. My son the animal lover loved looking at all of the animals. Especially the giraffes. Lately, he has been asking to go see them because he is fascinated with their loooong necks. This was a perfect fast night time reading book. It wasn't overly long or wordy but it kept my son engaged. The baby animals with their parents also encourage a bit of snuggling up while reading. This was a 5 out of 5 stars read.*I received a free copy of this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion**This book was read with my special needs son who is severely learning disabled. The review reflects not only my opinion but his as well

Adorable Night Time Book
Are You Sleeping Little One? by Hans-Christian Schmidt and Cynthia Vance and Illustrated by Andrea Nemet is a children's book about different animals and how they sleep. Perfect for babies and toddlers. "Are you Sleeping little One?" takes us into the world of you and me and a whole lot of animals and their sleeping habits . This is a cute story and easy to read. Are you sleeping Little One has cute illustrations and the text is presented in a lovely rhyming manner which can grasp the child's attention. Are you Sleeping Little One? is a great book for parents who are wanting to encourage their children to go to bed. It could also be read to encourage the names and sounds the animals make, but there are some unfamiliar animals such as a sloth that might be a little difficult. I definitely recommend this book for all family libraries.ARC graciously provided by Abbeville Kids via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A pleasure to read aloud to a child & illustrations are cleverly done.
I received a free kindle copy of Are You Sleeping Little One by Hans-Christian Schmidt and Cynthia Vance, published by Abbeville Kids from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.I loved this story & my favorite little boy requested it again & again. Because of that I gave it five stars. My favorite illustration was the one with caterpillars sleeping in pea pods. He seemed to like the sleeping sloth. This charming little story was beautifully illustrated with clear drawings & bright colors. It is a pleasure to read to a child. It's written for ages two to four. I recommend it for beginning readers, parents, grandparents, teachers & librarians. A young reader would enjoy the easy rhymes.Link to purchase: http://www.amazon.com/Are-You-Sleeping-Little-One/dp/0789211203/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1423383177&sr=1-1&keywords=Are+You+Sleeping+Little+One

Are you Sleeping Little One by Hans-Christian Schmidt and Cynthia Vance* I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*This was a sweet little bedtime story that is full of mommy and baby animals getting ready for bed. The animals are shown in their natural environment and include everything from a puppy to bees in a honeycomb. They are all cuddling with their moms getting ready for bed.The story has a great rhyming flow to it and the pages are beautifully illustrated. They are bright and colorful with each animal in their own environment. The story seems to be geared for younger children between the ages of 1 and 3, I think any older might lose interest easily.Overall, Lilly and I enjoyed Are You Sleeping Little One and give it 4 stars.
