So so
Ordered these twice. Came with a key the first time but not the second (which would make the second lot of useless on their own). Haven't had much success with these in terms of catching mice. Still feel better about traps being in these boxes than out in the open though.

A Mouse Hunt Essay!
For some reason, after many years living here, mice decided to descend. I figured this was the kindest way to deal with them, although I still feel really, really bad about it, but I just can't risk them coming in to the house. I also wanted the traps to be encased as I didn't want any other wildlife (e.g. birds) or pets going near them. Anyway, within the hour we caught one and have caught a couple more since (although, fingers crossed, we haven't had any lately). I ordered a few of these (this size and the larger one with 2 traps inside) but they didn't arrive with keys. However, you can improvise and use 2 small screwdrivers (like the size of ones you get in Christmas crackers). I contacted the seller who was very proactive in sending out keys and was very helpful and provided me with some tips. I use chunky peanut butter so it requires a bit of effort for the mouse, forcing it to stay on the trap long enough to trigger it. However, be warned, if you have this outside, slugs are attracted to them as well and oh my, a splattered slug across the inside of one of these traps is beyond disgusting! Some of the traps are very sensitive too and a slight knock will trigger them. Also, do not put these anywhere outside where water can get in to them easily. I deducted one star for the design. Pulling the cable tie from the outside to set the trap is very difficult with some of them and strength is required (we have to use grips to help), so it's easier to set the trap as normal and then feed the cable tie through. However, a positive with the cable tie is that it provides an easy visual indication of whether the trap has gone off or not (as it's shorter when triggered). Also, it would be a good idea if it was possible to design a box where once the mouse went in, it couldn't get back out, as we did see one run through the double trap and not set it off! I would buy these again if needed, but for anyone thinking about it, just remember with using traps you need to have someone who is prepared to deal with the bodies, especially if they have started to decay / get eaten. As I'm very squeamish, my partner has to do it.Other general tips:Please remember to use gloves, dispose of mice carefully and wash your hands afterwards after touching any surface where a rodent may have been, as they do carry disease. Never hoover up droppings as when they are disturbed, inhaling particles can cause lung issues. Dampen droppings down first with a bleach spray for example and then clean up. Also, place the traps up against walls where they tend to move. Rats will be very suspicious of anything new in the area, but mice are more gullible, although it still make take a couple of days before you start to see results. Also remember if you see one or two mice, you can assume you have many more than that and mice do not tend to move far from their nests so they will likely only be several metres away. They can fit through tiny spaces (equivalent to the diameter of a biro pen for example) and they can chew through a lot of materials you wouldn't think possible. Finally, I am not sure there is any worse smell than a dead mouse in your walls / roof. The suffocating smell will pass after a few days, but apart from the slow death and potential for other creatures to eat both the poison and the dead mouse that has been poisoned, is just another reason why I, personally, don't like using poison. The humane traps are of course going to be best for the mouse and I did consider them, but where are you going to release them? It just wasn't practical for us living in a town.

Well made, but ultimately useless for catching mice.
These are well made traps. However, after baiting and setting, next day traps had been emptied of bait, but untriggered. I nudged the trap box, and it went off, so it wasn't incorrectly set.Reset, re-baited, with the bait set well into the trap.Next day, all empty, totally cleaned out of very sticky peanut butter.Set out a glue trap (not terribly humane, single use) and next morning, had caught one offending field mouse. Can't really recommend an expensive trap that doesn't get set off by a mouse feasting in it.

Ideal for mice only
They arrived quick and I was a bis skeptic about the easy pull trigger to reset the traps but the work easy , perfect for putting under cupboard unit spaces as they are not very tall and quite compact - would recommend

It works!
Was very pleased with these mouse traps, so much better having the trap enclosed - safer than 'open snap traps'. Easy to use and efficient. So happy I've just ordered another two! We live in the country so have several sheds to place them!

Very easy to use but most importantly, safe!
Brilliant bit of kit. You can set it and check it without opening it. This safety feature was key for me as i have a dog and a 5 year old son so it was imperative neither could access the trap. I would definitely recommend this product.
