A landmark book for everyone!
Mr. Schroder has written a brilliant and landmark book to enhance the abilities and skills of teachers. His research supporting his findings and guidance is exceptional, and much of it is scientific in nature – analyzing the function and behavior of the human brain in areas such as neuroscience, psychology, and trauma.Much of his findings and guidance are also based on his significant background in martial arts, particularly Karate, and the disciplines and virtues that come from these arts.Society’s most important investment may be in Human Capital, and Human Capital is built through education. Therefore, teachers becoming their “best self” in education is what can significantly help maximize the return on this investment for society. What Mr. Schroder may or may not realize, is that his findings and guidance apply to all human conditions and interaction – not just for teachers. For instance, he focuses considerable time on burnout and stress situations, and personal hurtspots that all people encounter, and how to address, manage, and grow through these situations. Therefore, his book is really for everyone. I highly recommend it.

Saved my career- 20 year teacher
This book! This author! Easy read, insightful, validating, and life-saving. After 20 years of K-12 experience as a specialist teacher, over 7,000 students, I was ready to change directions and leave the field of education. Jay and his tools he explains is at the top of the PD experience's I have ever taken. I am renewed and ready to love the classroom again. Must read. Life changing. Jay's philosophy can renew the American schooling system if all teachers learned this in their prep school.

This book is life-changing!
This book is life-changing for teachers. It is the only book I have ever found that has practical information about focusing on ourselves in order to avoid burnout and keep loving teaching, loving our students (yes, even the "difficult" ones!), and being highly effective teachers.

Applicable Strategies to Support Teachers
As a kindergarten teacher who has taught multiple grades, in multiple schools, in multiple districts, and multiple states, I have found that I keep trying to chase a better possibility and opportunity. Jay's book, Teach From Your Best Self has easy, applicable strategies to help teachers make the best of their teaching situation. He addresses common challenges and provides strategies to help with them. These collection of strategies have helped me to make a shift this year in order to save my finite resources of time, energy, and attention so that I can use my time, energy, and attention for my family and not only for school. I highly recommend this book to any teacher who is hoping to get maximum results from their time while also finding ways to take less work home (both physical and mental).

Changed my Life
"Teach From Your Best Self" by Jay Schroeder is a compelling and transformative book that emphasizes the crucial aspect of self-care for teachers in the classroom. With a unique perspective derived from Jay's expertise as a black belt in karate, the book draws parallels between controlling one's body, mind, and spirit in martial arts and maintaining grace and poise while teaching. The book delves into the idea that teachers are the most important tool in the classroom, and in order to create an enriching and impactful learning environment, they must prioritize their well-being and personal growth. Jay Schroeder skillfully weaves his experiences as a black belt to offer insightful and practical strategies for teachers to achieve a sense of control, balance, and mindfulness in their profession. What sets this book apart is its emphasis on empowering teachers to embrace their authentic selves while teaching. Instead of offering generic instructional techniques, Jay advocates for teachers to tap into their unique strengths and values, allowing them to teach from a place of authenticity and passion. I never liked the idea of lying or manipulating my students into hearing what I have to say and learning from me. It is a mutual transaction that both parties must agree too before any learning takes place you have to build positive relationships and a safe/supportive classroom environment."Teach From Your Best Self" is not just another self-help book for educators; it transcends the boundaries of teaching and becomes a broader guide to life. The principles shared in the book can be applied not only in the classroom but also in various aspects of personal growth and interpersonal relationships. It changed my life as a high school English teacher and now I will never look back.In conclusion, Jay Schroeder's "Teach From Your Best Self" is an inspiring and insightful read that encourages teachers to become mindful and empowered educators. By drawing upon his martial arts background, Jay brings a fresh perspective to teaching, reminding us all of the importance of taking care of ourselves as we guide and shape the minds of future generations. This book is a valuable resource for any educator seeking to bring their best self to the classroom and make a lasting impact on their students.
