A great song book with a few old classics and some new ones too
So , I read music and I also play by tab and chord, all are covered in this book and very well presented, a bpm is the only missing thing but it’s not a deal breaker. A good selection of old songs and some new ones to try, in the back are some useful notes on different rhythms for strumming and finger picking as well as chord charts.Great book for the price and I will look to get the blue grass book next

Absolutely brilliant series of books
This book is perfect for me. It has lots of great songs that are so accessible and can be embellished as much as your skill level allows. Using this book I have taught myself ukulele tablature and because it's laid out alongside the sheet music I am beginning to learn standard musical notation. I usually record a rhythm track on my phone and then use it to help learn the memories. I'm totally hooked!

Sea shanties arranged for ukuleles
I have been getting into shanties for a while now after seeing the Fisherman's Friends live and so was delighted to find this book. It contains the words, chords (including diagrams), top line of the musical score and ukulele tabs for the following songs:A drop of Nelson’s bloodAll for me grogA sailor and his true loveBanks of SacramentoBanks of the OhioBlow the man downBlow the wind southerlyBoney was a warriorBoston harbour(Bound for) South AustraliaBound for the Rio GrandeBully in the alleyCape Cod girlsDundee whalers (Balena)Essequibo riverEternal Father, Strong to SaveGoodbye, fare thee wellGood night, ladiesHandsome MollyHarbour GraceHaul away, boysJack the Sailor (Jackie Monroe)John KanakaLowlands awayMaggie MayMiss Lucy LongMolly MaloneMy Bonnie lies over the oceanNew York girlsOn board of the KangarooPaddy lay backRoll, Alabama, rollRowler BowlerRule, BritanniaSailor on the deep blue seaSantiana (Across the plains of Mexico)ShenandoahSpanish ladiesThe bottle-oThe coast of High BarbareeThe dead horseThe flying DutchmanThe Forsaken MermaidThe Glendy BurkThe John B. sailsThe mermaidThe Shanty Boy on the Big Eau ClaireWhat shall we do with the drunken sailorWhip JamboreeWhiskey JohnnyIn addition it contains basic chord diagrams for the ukulele and strumming and picking patterns. Everything is laid out really clearly which helps when playing the songs. I thoroughly recommend this book!

A wide variety of sea songs with generally useful chords to help play.
A wide selection of sea shanties that are fairly easy to play. However the version of Molly Malone was not the version I know and had to rewrite!

So much fun in one little book!
So I just love this book. Sure I don't know many of them, but they are shanties and fun! The layout is perfect for a beginner too. Large print, chord shapes explained, all super friendly chords too. Plus the back of the book has a section on strum patterns so you choose what works. This is good actually as many books neglect this element which scares most people away from sheet music in favour of YouTube or tabs. Dive in!

Bargain fun
It is difficult to find 'songbooks' which are any good. This book is good. It has good TAB to learn the melody, plus chords and lyrics. The lyrics 'seem' to be more American as the British versions of shanties that I know and have heard have some differences in lyrics. This isn't a problem though as shanties don't really have standard lyrics anyhow. There are chord diagrams, strumming patterns for each time signature (16 in total) and 29 suggested finger picking patterns listed in the back. 50 shanties for basically a fiver. All the favourites are there plus many others. there is no need for a CD or online links to hear the melodies, because they are easy to learn with the tab nds no one plays a shanty with the strict observance of classical music anyhow. Great buy and great fun

lovely book
Again, as I said with all the books in this series/publisher they are so well written for players to use of all levels. I often have to do my own tabs, but these books in this series has them already and they appear so far to be accurate. Chord diagrams are there to assist and the notes are written too, if you want to read music the standard way. This book is packed with lots of songs, so there has to be something for everyone here. Drawback is that you will need a clip to hold it open, or have it spiral bound or hole punched to get it the stay flat for reading and playing.
