Great Original Ideas
If you are used to the "same old stuff," you won't find it here. Kinder has accumulated 1000 ways for you to stretch your brain and become more creative. In fact, this would be awesome for a creative writing teacher to use in their class (I suspect a bit of the teacher in Kinder). Whether you use this for individual exercises or for group exercises, there is something for everyone. One thing I appreciated about this book is the way he divided up the different areas. The "real" work begins at item 150, the first part is what he calls "exercises."As a small group leader of many years, I have often been challenged with coming up with warm up questions for small groups, and this makes me recognize the challenge of coming up with this level of ideas ...I am keeping my copy on my Kindle - to keep my brain active.

A new cure for writer's block!
I am glad I snatched this ebook when I saw it. I feel any writer, beginner or not, may find this a useful tool to the trade. The book is easy to follow, the author does not talk down to you or have that "I am smarter tone" which some non-fiction works have. This put me at ease and more willing to see what tips the author did have.I have been a writer of poetry and short tales for my own enjoyment for years now. Lately, I have been attempting to build on that to see if I can put together something of novel length. That dreaded term..."hitting the wall"...I totally get what all the other writers mean now! It can happen at the worst moments, can last for days. Productive, THAT is not! Now you see my original interest in this book. I am happy to report that even while reading sections, portions of the dreaded wall came down! It is like I suddenly saw a window that had not been there before. Very cool feeling! :)What makes Mr. Kinder's book neat is the many avenues for thought he suggests. I think now matter what genre you write in, even if there is not an ACTUAL prompt listed to suit your theme, you learn how to ask yourself the right questions. You learn that the key is just to write, no matter how crazy or nonsensical the idea. Bottom line, I find the book to be encouragement. So big thanks to Mr. Kinder for this one!

So much fun, it will keep me occupied for years
This book is unbelievable. The prompts cover everything. From when my father first cried to noir writing. So much fun, it will keep me occupied for years!!! Though not a gifted writer, I do love to play around with it. Great for anyone who might not know where to start. I honestly can say it was the best buy I've made in years. The book is for anyone who thinks they would like to try writing, anyone who has tentaviely tried writing, anyone suffering writer's block or anyone who just wants to have some fun. I have fallen in love with this might yet small book.

Basic Ideas
You pick a question or statement and write your response. There is no rhyme or reason to the order. The author does not provide an index. Use this book for writing class assignments. Use the book to look for a way to add an out of scene twist to your story. There are grammatical errors for some prompt sentences.

A great book of prompts for writers.
I love to write. Sometimes, like all writers, I get writer's block. This is a very interesting book with ideas that you can use just to break that writer's block. It has simple exercises, such as giving you a theme to write about in 250 words or less, and many other ideas. I know I will use it often in the future, especially, since my writer's group meets every other week and I know I can't produce a novel every other week. If you are a writer this will be a great tool to have in your arsenal.

Go on and write already!
Okay, the book was thinner than I was expecting, but once I thought about it, it makes sense. It's only (slightly more) than 1,000 prompts, some of which are very short. I like the friendly, humorous style of writing the author has, reading the back of the book immediately made me more comfortable to explore the prompts. The prompts are fun enough that each almost immediately inspires me to where I can go with it. Some of the limited (time or word limit) prompts are challenging, but I think that challenge is good.I need to stop making excuses for why I'm not writing and this is a great place to start!

Decent Prompts
Overall, it's a pretty solid reference to keep on hand. To have managed to score it for free, it was definitely a gain. If I had paid for it, I probably would have only have three stars. The prompts are plentiful, although there are a handful that are extremely similar, or are actually the same prompt. There are enough to keep you going for years if you choose the "one prompt a day" pattern that some adapt. The limited prompts (time limits and word constraints) are a new and interesting approach I've not seen utilized in a successful way - until now. I honestly wish there had been a few more of these and less of the straight prompts. Personally, I felt that some of these were extremely short. I know that they're meant to spur creativity, but sometimes longer prompts can spur it even better and get the wheels turning in ways that a single sentence couldn't.Decent editing for a self-edited/Microsoft Word piece. I noticed a few mistakes, but nothing that was really in-your-face about it. (Although there is a single instance of "Alternate Dimension" being entirely capitalized. Haha). All in all, I feel this is a solid book and handy resource for any writer struggling to find some motivation. Good job on your first one and I hope to see more! Be sure to announce it in /r/writingprompts! ;)
