Making Vintage Accessories: 25 Original Sewing Projects Inspired by the 1920s-60s

This book is going to get used so much more than that! Admittedly it is a tad advanced for beginning sewers, but the directions are clear and easy to follow as long as you have some general basic sewing knowledge. The projects are not extremely difficult but they above beginner level skills. Nice vintage look go everything in the book, cool ideas and great instructions on most of the projects. Worth buying if you are into a vintage look. Several items in the book would transfer easily into a rather steam-punk look with very little effort and just a simple change of materials/trims.

Very nice uique accessories, especially the jewelry. They look very vintage, for sure. I thought the trim for the gloves was very creative and made them (ready to wear) look like a unique vintage creation. I'm teaching my grand daughter how to sew. I ordered this book to help her get started with accessories. The projects in this book are for experienced sewers, but everything my grand daughter likes is for the experienced sewer. She'll be happy to get started on some of the more simple projects. The jewelry will be great to start with for children about 10 years old. They can be very creative with these projects and complete them if they have the supplies.

It wasn't quite what I expected. Basically ideas for purses, hats, necklaces, belts and scarves. The written instructions as while as the step by step pictures are very good. I will for sure make all eight purse patterns, however I am not into hats and necklaces, so maybe when I'm done with the book one of my daughters will be able to use it. I do love their instructions on turning rickrack into flowers and other embellishments too.

dI already had the authors other book so I kind of knew what to expect. Patterns need to be separately cut out anf size increased at a professional copier. This is an extra cost. I liked about 2/3 of the projects so was willing to do this and personalize some of these.

I gave it 4 stars because it is as described, the making of vintage accessories. However, the finished projects are not anything I would desire. But, I hope there are some techniques I can use.

This has some great accessories in it... mostly purses. I was hoping to have some glove patters- as it says, however it tells you to buy gloves to trace out then gives you a pattern to attach a cuff to them. Meh... I probably will return this.

I have only tried few simple projects in fabrics because I do not have leather facilities, that is, a machine that can sew leather. I hope to try some of the party handbags in leather when I can afford a leather machine. I love challenges! CHEERS!

A lovely book which is full of inspiring ideas. Makes a good partner to the previous book making vintage bags. I dont know about the instructions as i usually ony need the visual ideas to get me going!

Lovely photos and instructions for all projects. Easy to understand including templates which are too easy to copy and use.

Some great ideas inside

Lovely illustrations. In practise I don't know whether the instructions produce something that matches the illustrations. It certainly made a lovely gift.
